RE: Temple vs ND TV Ratings
Was honestly one of the best games I have watched in a while. If Temple had gotten the ball on the last play that would have been wow!

Good for Temple and AAC, but lets be honest it is the power of ND.
Let's also be honest that UCF is going to go winless this year.

RE: Temple vs ND TV Ratings
The timing of the game worked out great for Temple and the AAC. This was the only game between top 25 teams this past week, correct?
Even with the loss, it was great exposure. For a lot of people this was may have been the only AAC game they watched this year. Temple went toe-to-toe in the trenches, which was probably a surprise to the average joe college football fan.

Ohio State arguably has just as big of a fan base as Notre Dame, and Penn State has a huge fan base as well. I don't see any problem with comparing the two games. Temple doesn't have a huge fan base, but they put up a good fight and that definitely helped the ratings.
Keep in mind too that the Ohio State-Penn State game last year was one that went into overtime (meaning it was not a blowout game people turned off).
And as far as the local Philadelphia TV market, the game pulled in 18.1 overnight, which is the best ever for a regular season college football in that market. This is a huge number and dwarfs anything Penn State has ever received here.
Undoubtedly Temple picked up a few fans off Saturday nights' exposure. Perhaps most of them their own alumni base. That's the first battle anyway. Those events build programs.

Catholics and a sex scandal, surely you can't be serious.
This has nothing to do with being Catholic. Has it been established that this woman is Catholic, and if she is it doesn't correlate that her behavior has anything to do with the Church. The Church teaches chastity, and clearly this behavior represents a sinful attitude and actions towards Our Lord's teachings. There are a lot of people that call themselves Catholic that in practice aren't, even in the clergy, and they have excommunicated themselves by their sinful actions. The Church is full of fallible, sinful human beings that fall from grace. But these fallible, sinful human beings are not the Church, nor do the represent Our Lord's teachings. We should pray for these poor souls and hope that justice is served on behalf of the victims.
There are a lot of sinful, evil people in the clergy and episcopacy. They are not the Church. They are individuals that do not practice Our Lords teachings. It is scandalous that the hierarchy cannot rid the Church of these evil individuals, but the hierarchy is infected as well which causes incredible damage to the faithful causing them to lose the faith and leave the Church and also keeps those outside of Our Lord's Church from finding the truth. All that can be done is to pray for the Church that these people repent and return to grace.
I find it rather telling that our (sadly) increasing secular society expects perfection from religious (especially Christians) people, but clearly the Church as St. Augustine puts it: “the Church is a hospital for sinners.” Unfortunately, every few people realize this and expect unachievable perfection from Christians and once a Christian makes a mistake, they mislabel religion as unnecessary. As G.K Chesterton said: “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.”
I like Bishop Sheen said: "Few Americans hate the Catholic Church, but millions hate what they think is the Catholic Church."
I say all this as a Methodist.

The entire day was good for Temple and the AAC. ND is the big draw, but Temple and the AAC gained a lot of respect. At least 2 ESPN talking heads on Sunday mentioned the Memphis win over Ole Miss, and Houston destroying Vandy.

The whole idea of the AAC was to get teams in large markets that have potential. Temple has been a work in progress the past ~7-8 years of mostly trending upwards. You are seeing the same with Memphis and Houston. These are schools that are starting to live up to their potential and hopefully it continues for several other schools in the conference.

Well said. +3 for quoting three of my favorites. If you'd quoted Aquinas, well that would have been too good to believe.

Nevermind on the points. Can't leave them because some low post folks abused the privilege so it has been taken away from everyone with less than 1000 posts.
