I'm now thinking we may be top 10 when the playoff poll comes out. We are creating some serious buzz out there. I think because of the lackluster performance against Tulane we come out ready for Navy and keep this train rolling.

Hey, you're like me, joined in '04, not many posts. That's ok. I started posting more when we hired Fuente. I knew he'd turn us around. My first thought when we hired him was, "Dang, he's gonna make us into a Big 12 team type offense." So cool.

This stuff is great buzz for the program. As a Tiger fan I have to remind myself to pump the brakes a bit.

Of course in the last few weeks tags have gone from coming off a disappointing 18-14 year to an allowance of the accepted definition of our basketball team to one being decline, or no chance, or worthless, or take your pick.

You do not have to buy into that...although if you fall short of declaring it dead you will be subject to the wrath of many who pretty much demand you insult the coach and team. Anything short of that means you think everything is wonderful..instead of essentially down a bit but likely to improve greatly.

And...

You can enjoy the hell out of Memphis football right now without bagging on basketball. That is allowed to. Not going after this poster...just using this post as a segue...aimed more at the more nasty element among our, er, fans.

Now watch them rally.

It's funny watching people lose their sh** over us getting a mention from a journalist. I want this so damn bad...and while I want it as a Memphis fan, I want to watch P5 fans all over the country have strokes and heart attacks over us getting in.

I'm not a fan of Forde...I think he oozes arrogance and has a really bad haircut. That said, he - along with a lot of other people - may in fact move us in and out of the top 4 over the next few weeks depending a lot on how we perform, how our opponents perform, how our opponents opponents perform, and how the teams ranked above and below us perform. But, it sure feels good to be in the discussion right now.

I look forward to the day when all of this is old hat...now that we're here...I wanna stay here.
