Wrong, we're throwing away tradition for TV rating $. Surely you knew.

But the audience is primarily people betting sports.
Cash is cash. Are you an adult? Can't believe we're having this discussion.

Not my point. Supposedly, we are giving upbSaturday games to get our mug on TV and help build a brand. The intent being if they can build a brand more people will come.

My point is we're building a brand with people who don't give a rats ass about WMU and will never set foot in Waldo.

I think these games need to be on Saturday and the NAC and WMU need to do a better job of getting people in the seats.

I agree in the second point. I'd like to see hard figured.

One thing I do remember from the game against Ball State was that they had two WRs torch us.

MAC has been doing weeknight games for how long now?

And has attendance improved as result of this "brand building"?

To be fair no one is going to a MAC stadium in November. No one showed up 10+ years ago because it was too cold. Now it's too cold and a weeknight.

...and no more people are going to MAC stadiums in September-October because of the TV "exposure" in November.

Students especially staying away in droves which means losing future alumni coming back for games.

Stupid.

NIU beat Alabama and Maryland same season before weeknight games started.

UT beat Penn State and Michigan.

Are you saying it's being on TV that's made our recruiting, and not Fleck?

You overestimate how much HS kids watch Football on TV.

Has the MAC seen any better recruiting numbers since we started having all these weekday games? I have not seen any evidence of it. WMU is apparently getting some good recruits but that's probably due to Captain Fleck.

The exposure received playing on TV during the week I'm sure helps every team that performs well. Recruits viewing an empty stadium can't help though.

Didn't want to get off topic since this is about Ball State, but I did wonder if it has made any difference. NIU has performed on weeknights about as well as it could have, but it's not like we're stealing recruits from P5 schools or even other good G5 schools, except here and there. Whatever advantage there is appears to be minimal, looking at the overall picture. Like you said, it can't help if the stadium is half empty.

I agree with NIU007 here. I do not think that the TV exposure is doing anything for recruiting, not anymore, at least. However, having games available on line does get us exposure. I have a teenage son and aside from an occasional Saturday afternoon game, he watches football exclusively on line. Most of his teammates do the same.

We are living in the age of the internet and cable TV is on life support. As us old timers die off, so will go the cable.

All of that said, we do not need to be playing week day games in November in order to get exposure to potential recruits. Instead, if we provide entertaining games then we can get noticed on the national stage. ie. in 2011 everyone was talking about the NIU - UT game with scores of 63 to 60 and then followed the next week UT topping WMU 66 to 63. Both were barn burners that got lots of buzz and replays online. They were weekday games that could have done the same by being played on Saturday with more people at the game.

Hopefully the turn out will be like the BSU midweek night game a few years ago. Good weather and good turnout that night. Bad result though if I remember correctly.

That 5OT game a decade ago? I was there. Man, that one still stings...

It's looking increasingly unlikely (due to weather) but I really want to fly up for the game tomorrow. Hoping the precipitation gods cooperate.

Accuweather now shows only 25% chance of Thursday evening rain which would be during football game. Temp at kickoff of 66 degrees would make a beautiful Fall evening for football. BTW -Tickets are on sale for only $11

Later during the overnight there is a 71% chance of rain.

Yeah, but who wants to sit in the endzone where you can't see anything? They should have better/reduced pricing for sideline seats, section C-E.
