Fox studio host and analysts laugh their way through their short pre-game assessments. Both take LaTech, understandably. Dave Wannstadt said we had a chance if we lived up to our conference lead in time of possession.

Game announcers are Greg Wolf and George Wrightster (former Oregon TE).

Go Owls!!

We had 'em in 3rd and long close to midfield.

So of course they scored a touchdown.

We need to recruit some speed in the secondary. This is the problem.

Just bad tackling. That's on the players

Secondary still needs more focus and execution. He got open easily and broke a poor attempt at a tackle.

Blitzing leaving no safety in the center--that is on the coaches.

Shouldn't have been able to complete the pass, either. At least not one of 10+ yards over the middle.

RE: La. Tech Game Thread
Our first possession is a no-fake handoff into the line (+3); short-drop pass but pocket collapses & Driphus loses 6; nowhere near the receiver INC pass to the left ... under pressure. Punt.

Driskell tosses his 3rd & 11 pass over the middle just before 2 rushing Owls get to him. But it's complete and our DB was no match, got some fingernails on his shoulder pads and jersey as he cut back. Fox announcers called it "Zero coverage", since there were no safeties over the middle. (LaTech receiver had no offers out of high school -- "no even any D-II schools" -- except LaTech.)

Good answer. Good drive, overcoming a couple of first down runs for big losses. DJ looks sharp. The WR's with some nice plays.

RE: La. Tech Game Thread
That's the way to respond, Rice!!

TD drive started with a toss-right to Stewart, but he only had one blocker vs 4 Bulldogs ... lost 3. But then, passes to Wright, Alaka, German ... a run by Stewart then at short toss for the TD. Pretty fast paced "tempo" ... and sharp, quick passes by Driphus to way-open receivers .... and good-enough OL protection. Yay!!!
