Haha, 2 top 200 teams???

When you get to MAC play its almost a top 150 team every night at least, so the SOS will be immensely helped out by the conference. (And before anyone types it, I know I know, SOS doesn't matter for the MAC hah)

Say no to drugs. Unless you mis-typed and really meant bottom 150. Otherwise, please do yourself a favor and try to get clean.

I work on facts only Cowboy.

Taking a look at two of the more reputable basketball rankings systems, Massey and KenPom

MAC Top 200 teams
Massey: 9
KenPom: 10

That leaves only 3 bottom 150 teams from the MAC for Massey, and only 2 teams in the bottom 150 for KenPom. Pretty darn impressive.

To be honest, KenPom's look more reasonable to me right now. I think more factors are being taken into account in terms of injuries, transfers, etc.

The rankings

That is half the conference - in their best year in quite a while. That is, at best, every other night; not most nights. Last time I checked 50% is not most. If the MAC were a half way decent conference they would manage to get more than one team into the tournament. Never mind the fact, that it is highly unlikely the MAC has as good of a showing in rankings this year. They will likely regress right back to where they are in most years.

I think there could be some regression, I agree, but not back to a 10 year average, it is better than that. Something tells me next season the MAC could be back in that 14 to 18 conference ranking range where it normally is. I expect another year up in the 10 to 12 range this year.

Lisa Carlsen has them playing like a well oiled machine, running and gunning down the floor, in mid-season form and the season hasn't even started yet. The Huskies beat St. Francis 86-54.

Big change in women's college basketball this year. Four 10 minutes quarters instead of two 20 minute halves. 2 shot penalties when the opposition gets 5 penalties in a quarter. Penalties start fresh each quarter. There are other changes too.

Stopped at VCB before the game. LOTS of new stuff. Now I'm starting to spend my wallet at VCB again. Nice things.

Most of these teams are in the east, right? The MAC west is usually brutal. Means NIU won't face them as much either.

I have never seen anything like NIU's non-conference schedule... FOUR non-Division 1 teams. Chicago State is on the schedule too and they aren't much better than the Judson and Roosevelt's of the world.

Not that NIU will be fighting for an at-large bid or anything at the end of the year so I guess it doesn't really matter. Seems pretty clear Monty is just looking to get as many easy W's as he can to stay on the payroll next year.

Hey you don't post with a name of NealIT do you? hah. But seriously, I don't know if I completely agree, maybe there is some of that going on with the schedule with a really young team, but I do think basketball scheduling is becoming immensely difficult for mid majors now. There are not a whole of options. This type of schedule is not specific to NIU, you will see similar schedules in many other places. The MAC is going to be tough as nails this year, so maybe it is a blessing to not have too many overwhelming games to what will be an overwhelming conference schedule. Monty is definitely headed in the right direction, there is an overwhelming consensus that this is one of the best incoming classes NIU has ever had on paper.

RE: Basketball Video 2015-16
Let's give SF a little more credit, if there is a decision to be made on MM losing his job, he's not going to base it on 4 or 5 extra wins against terrible teams. It's certainly a schedule meant to build up some confidence early...and this was NEVER going to be a year NIU challenged for an at large spot (SO SO far away from that), so that's not something you need to worry about. The idea is to make us as competitive as possible in the MAC.
