SI: Memphis QB Paxton Lynch has Tigers primed for greatness
Quote:Lynch has dazzled this season, completing 174 of 243 passes for 2,366 yards and 17 touchdowns, with just one interception. That's why one NFL scout projects that Lynch, should he leave Memphis after this season, would be a mid-first-round pick in April's NFL draft.

Another college coach tells The Inside Read that five NFL scouts have told him that Lynch is likely to be the first quarterback selected in the 2016 draft

RE: SI: Memphis QB Paxton Lynch has Tigers primed for greatness
Was it an high school athletic director or Tigers associate athletic director Bill Loften that first contacted Fuente about Paxton ?

http://247sports.com/Article/Memphis-QB-Paxton-Lynchs-journey-through-the-recruiting-process-40463772
Quote:Meanwhile, behind the scenes, an athletic director at another high school knew some guys on the recently hired Memphis coaching staff led by Justin Fuente. After seeing Lynch in the Central Florida all-star game Johnson said it was that athletic director that put his quarterback on Fuente and company’s radar.

Fuente and his staff offered a scholarship and the Lynch family took the official visit that final weekend in January. Lynch was very intrigued with the dynamic play-caller Fuente who was the engineer for those outstanding TCU offenses that were led by Andy Dalton.

“When he got up there and met with the coaches and met with Fuente and then (assistant coach) (Darrell) Dickey came to the house Paxton said this it, people in our home state weren’t feeling him, but at Memphis there are people that believe in him and he’ll play 110 percent for him. Fuente believes in him now and he’ll do anything he asks him to do.”

Central Florida actually offered on National Signing Day. It was obviously too late.

Quote:It was then Tigers associate athletic director Bill Loften, who had been in Orlando and stumbled upon a newspaper article about an overlooked area quarterback named Paxton Lynch.

"Hey, you guys may want to check this kid out," Fuente recalls being told by Loften.

The suggestion is a common one for college football coaches, though it rarely yields much benefit. But Fuente and his staff had less than three months to sign a quarterback for their first recruiting class.

So they went ahead and contacted Lynch's coach at Trinity Christian Academy, a small private school of approximately 150 students in Deltona, Fla., to get tape of him.

Same age as my youngest and I can attest to their immaturity at that age. Let's enjoy the ride. Should be fun.

You heard it here first

Paxton Lynch has a serious chance at becoming the number 1 overall pick. If the Browns, Chiefs or Texans get it don't be surprised.

If I'm Jerry Jones, I trade Dez Bryant and maybe a couple others to get Paxton. But he won't.

If he goes mid first round that is probably better than being one of the top 5, you don't want to wind up at Cleveland.

Another good place for him might be Arizona.

I also believe this. He will be the Blake Bortles of two years ago.

Except Paxton will go on to have an exceptional career. Unlike Bortles

I swear you have some of the dumbest suggestions in the history of organized football.

Why trade away one of the top 3 receivers in the NFL and rob your young QB of his best possible weapon?

Paxton is more athletic and has a more accurate arm than Bortles at this stage imo.

I think he is better student of the game right now, too.

Paxton's confidence is growing each week. He has taken his game to another level this month.
