Two MAC games on Thursday - 10/29/15
So we play midweek games for exposure on ESPN yet neither the WMU vs EMU (on CBS Sports Network) or Buffalo vs Miami (ESPN3) is on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU. What is the point of these four schools playing on Thursday when they could have gotten the same coverage on Saturday?

At least Texas State vs. Georgia Southern (who?) have ESPNU coverage though.

Georgia Southern (who?) is the team that gave RTB a beatdown. They're 5-2 this year. They were also good last year, finishing 9-3 and running the table in the Sun Belt.

I don't care who they beat. The point is there are two MAC games playing and neither is on one of the three ESPN channels. These games could have been played on Saturday with the same coverage.

Get used to it. The ESPN/MAC contract runs through the 2026-27 season. Weekday MACtion will be going on for a long time.

What's wrong with CBSSN?

Isn't it similar to ESPN-U?

Nothing at all wrong with CBSSN. They did the NIU-UNLV season opener and did a good job. Most sports packages that have ESPNU will also have CBSSN (and NBCSN).

Could have played on Saturday and been on CBS SN. The MAC signed a contract to play on ESPN on weekdays. Neither of those games is on the three main ESPN channels.

Both WMU and Buffalo continue midweek play next week and the week after- so they probably felt it most fair to have all the teams with the same rest.

I sort of agree that CBS Sports and ESPN U are comparable. I actually think when the MAC bragged about the CBS Sports Network games they were a bit misleading because 3 of the 6 would have been televised by ESPN U in the past. Essentially CBS Sports is showing a Thursday game this week, next week and black friday ....if you go back to last year's schedule those same Thursday games were on ESPN U.

I like midweek football when the best game is on ESPN2 and the other game is on ESPNU- I like it less when the best game is on ESPNU or CBS Sports and the worst game is on ESPN3 (which all MAC home games are on ESPN3)
