05-mafia I have to disagree. Illinois has been a bottom 1/3 team in the league for at least a couple of decades. I see no way that they will ever approach Wisconsin or Nebraska. I view it as a dead end job in a major conference.

The football facilities there make it a very tough draw, they would rank last in the MAC.

Even the Illinois fans on "Galloping Ghost" forum think it's a bad job - little history, poverty budget-wages, bad leadership from administration-BOT.

One posted some figures that show Ohio State has had more 8-plus win seasons since 2000 than Illinois has had in its entire football history.

Gonna be locked and loaded for ultra-elite status next year if everyone returns! Probably be ranked in the 2016 preseason Top-30 if we can finally get that bowl win this year. It would be well worth his while to stay in Kalamazoo one more season and enjoy the historical ride that a lot of us are anticipating with those seniors next year. Four years in Kalamazoo would be a good run for him here.

:cheers:Pretty sure this will start world war III, but I think he will stay til he gets a MAC championship like he said when he took the job.

If he got offered a P5 gig, he'll take it regardless if we win the MAC or not. As he should. You don't turn down a massive jump in pay just to notch a goal at your existing job. Quirky things can happen, and that prize money might not be on the table ever again.

Hazell at Purdue has not been told that he would return next year, I bet the whooping that Illinois put on them last weekend doesn't help much.

No way he stays on if offered a P5 gig, especially if it's just to win a MAC title. Injuries and/or other unknown factors can derail a season. This job is an audition for him and he's done a fabulous job.

Follow that money and look out for #1. Absolutely no shame in that.

Babers helped himself last night, I think he will probably have a few interviews coming up soon.

Gary Pinkel is retiring from Missouri at seasons end due to health reason.
