I was convinced that people can be born with both sex organs after reading the Wikipedia listing for "intersex". If you need pictures I have no doubt the internet will provide. I'm not recommending it mind you.

It's called hermaphrodism, and it's pretty rare.

I don't understand the problem with identifying yourself according to primary sex characteristics, as if that somehow harms you.

Like utsa said, what sex did this person claim to be and what barracks was he assigned to for basic training?
