We get it. That's why you pull for pork rinds. You should stick to that.

its been a dozen years since Miami won 10+ games in a season. It will take a truly "special" coach to be able to dodge the land mines that stand in the way of the Miami becoming the U again.

and I don't pull for pork rinds... I root for poke rinds.

That fool thought you were talking about the aAc not the aCc that's what's so hilarious. He's so worried about what he's gonna change his username to when Pastner leaves that he can't see straight.

RE: Oh look, Gottlieb is being snarky again
G & G apparently think Miami is the same job it was 15 yrs ago. Awful facilities & fan support in a state where USF, UCF have joined UF & FSU in heavily recruiting area talent & where UF, FSU & UCF have a facilities advantage. Add to that, the much closer NCAA, conference & university scrutiny paid to how Miami conducts it's FB athletics business & it makes Miami a mid-level P5 job at best and more like an irrelevant Wake Forest, Indiana or Kansa type FB program with every year that passes. Miami is just in an early stage of decline than Army of yesteryear.

And yes, "she" is gone.

Snicker.

Miami and Army.
One down for them for under a decade, or about the time FSU was down.

The other, out of the national picture since WWII.

#Miami job has issues, but also has players, redone stadium, tradition…anyone who says #UCF job is better exaggerating to be heard

@AfBagli_UCF
@GottliebShow UCF can pay the same amount of money, has an ON-CAMPUS stadium, sells out, better facilities and actually beats top 10 teams.
Just shows they dont do their jobs very well, if they are supposed to b experts.

@GottliebShow
Dude. UCF hasn’t won a game this year,plays in a league no one knows the teams in it…congrats on the stadium tho

@ChristianEEvans
@GottliebShow If people don't know the teams in the American, then they are just uneducated. Conference is on the rise. 3 undefeated teams.

@GottliebShow
Can u name every team in the American without looking em up?

@GoodmanESPN
It’s a challenge, that’s for sure.

Just shows they don't do their homework if they are supposed to be experts.

Hum, try naming all the teams in the IVY LEAGUE? That league has been around for decades...unchanged.

RE: Oh look, Gottlieb is being snarky again
In terms of just sheer tradition and name brand, Miami outshines UCF bu a mile. But that's where it stops in my opinion. Miami has gotten behind, and it is going to take a change in leadership and getting a coach that can get the most out of their players, but to everyone with eyes, Miami is in shambles and they still could at least have a winning season. The talent is there and still goes there.

But I think the perception of Miami is damaged from all the scandal that surrounds it. It almost feels trangible. And a lot of talent is smart enough to go elsewhere.

UCF has a lot going for it. But the brand has to get stronger and it will of they can right the ship. The lower stress level has a great benefit for coaches, along woth facilities and location. Right now, in terms of the real tangible things, UCF is a better job to take, but difficult to win national championships. Miami is just better because it is a P5 program, has tradition, and is in Miami, and has the potential to win more national championships, and a great coaching job could make them that caliber again even without campaign for facilities

Just to set the record straight, Army was very relevant as late as 1958 when Pete Dawkins won the Heisman & went 8-0-1, more than a decade after WWII. And they have bowl victories since in 1984 over Mich St, 1985 over IL, (1988 & 1996 losses to Auburn & AL) & a win over SMU in 2010. Doesn't take long to lose relevance.

You do realize that the President's job is to run an institution of EDUCATION and research. Sports is an afterthought and extra curricular activity. Not the President's job to make sure the athletic program is world class.

Hmm, if athletics is such an afterthought, then why do we keep having so much conference realignment?

There was a period of time which Army was a major program. Only school to have an underclassman win the Heisman then return to school only to lose out to his teammate.

Different universities have different ideas about what's important & how to reach their goals - simple as that really.

Because the tail is now wagging the dog and boosters and big money have taken over. No President was ever hired to turn their school into an athletic power.

I agree to a point, but I don't buy that athletics is an afterthought in today's climate. Collegiate athletics (specifically football) is big business. Hence, why we've seen so much conference movement.

As a major program, Miami is really over rated. They play before some of the smallest P5 crowds and the coach has to put up with crazy amounts of BS from former players and earns less than $2.5M. The practice facilities are crap. They got lucky in the early 80s and got it going, but there is a big gap between their expectations and their support (butts in seats and $ in donations). Have they been a top flight program since they joined the ACC?
