With the stress of coaching DI footballl and his epilepsy, seems like a wise decision for Jerry and his family. He did a good job at Minnehaha!

Just an awful story. Football coaching is this guy's life and he can't be a part of it anymore.

Here's hoping his health improves and he can find a way to be a part of the game he loves. Or that he discovers something else that he loves as much. The man persevered, for sure.

If he has a good speaking voice and camera presence, he could do commentary work. Its only 1 or 2 days a week

RE: Jerry Kill to retire.....
Kill always struck me as a classy guy at NIU and Minnesota, especially compared to some of the other Big Ten and P5 coaches. Best wishes to him.

On a side note, I hope the ice cream guy gets promoted from phone tech to HC.

Given their success with Kill, don't be surprised if they take a long look at Campbell when they get their new AD in place.

For those who would argue that Babers & Fleck would be on their list, keep in mind the terrible Tim Brewster years are still fresh in Gopher fans' memories and there's a lot of crash-and-burn potential with both Babers and Fleck. Think they'll go with the safer choice, which is Campbell.

A winner everywhere he coached. He would be a huge plus for any college football broadcasting team. Fox Sports would be wise to snap him up if he's interested

Saw that, good for Kill if he is healthy now, but seems a quick trigger on TCU's part since Patterson is the mastermind behind their rise to P5 prominence.

Kill is like the energizer bunny. He doesn't quit.

Also, TCU is probably going to end up regretting this. Gary Patterson will have no problem getting picked up as a head coach somewhere else.

RE: Jerry Kill to retire.....
Kent’s former HC Doug Martin, a good guy who led NMSU to the end of the longest bowl drought in history two years ago gets booted for another former MAC-ster. Martin had been openly disdainful of NMSU’s willingness to spend a dime on the program even after the unprecedented success he had. They had palm trees growing through the bleachers! Good luck, Kill. At least he’ll have a conference to be a part of.

It's a bottom barrel job, but at this point in his career there's a decent chance it's a passion project if he takes over. You win 5 to 7 games a year there and you're set for life, way less stress than a P5 job that might exasperate his health issues.

If there's anyone who can resuscitate a dying team -- it's Jerry Kill. He does it to himself, for football. :)
