But on the other hand, it has always been commonplace for athletes to have their transgressions swept under the rug. It appears that the victim did everything she was suppose to do and yet nothing was done.

On what authority does the police have over a university issue. Nothing to see here move along.

RE: OT: UNC
My biggest issue is that creating fake classes and giving fake grades is about as high up on the "subverting the academics" and the breaking that "student-athlete" mentality as you can get. On top of that, you essentially need department chairs and up in on the deal to make it happen. If there was ever a true need for a death penalty in NCAA sports, this is it. It should have been dealt with very harshly, but because it is UNC Chapel Hill, basically nothing will happen. As if we needed more proof, but if the NCAA actually does nothing of substance on this, they are a farce.

I have said it on here many times but if I was Memphis watching this B.S. charade of a NCAA investigation of the biggest academic scandal in history I would put the Final Four banner back up and tell the NCAA to

I thought the NCAA had decided to punish the U of Hawaii for the UNC violations? Isn't that how it's normally done?

It was the university police. She went to the campus police and reported that she had been raped. She had the rape kit exam, photographed the bruises on her neck, answered all of their questions. He was called in and they laughed with him when he shared all the phone numbers he had gotten from other girls that night, told him not to worry and go play football.

And, it seems, they took the rape kit but never processed it. This is the type of thing that the Feds love to go after.

I just don't see it given nothing was done about the apparent Pell Grant fraud.

This is what puts the "chip on the shoulder" attitude with ECU fans and players. This crap goes on and on and on. UNC has and will do whatever it can to keep ECU down. They have their hands in every part of the state, especially government. It isn't what is best for North Carolina, but what is best for UNC.

Chaps Memphis folks too. Memphis held in "stick liability" for Derrick Rose SAT, even though the NCAA Clearing House had previously approved Rose's SAT score as legit allowing Rose admission to enroll. Further Memphis knew nothing (rec'd no notification) of Rose receiving notification from the SAT board questioning who took the test - and with the notice sent directly to Rose's address in Chicago after the regular season was completed & during the NCAA tourney - and not to the university. Yet Memphis penalized & stripped of its wins, tourney performance & $$.
Now UNC had serious systemic violations for many years & the revised NCAA charges have now been generalized to avoid sanctions against UNC BB or FB. The effect of this will mean UNC keeps their titles - it's a sham!

It's not just ECU, it's Charlotte and other schools in the UNC System as well that are fed up with the preferential treatment given the Chapel Hill. Only thing that will eventually change that is more people from the other school getting on the Board of Governors.

We can only hope. That good ole boys network is pretty tight. I have a buddy connected with the NC state government. They will do their best to keep eastern NC rural and controllable. In their opinion Wilmington and Asheville are "cute", but funds & growth are focused on RDU first then Charlotte. Charlotte(city) has it's own wealth and power to stand alone.

Your Naivete' is endearing to all non-Cartel brothers and sisters. NOBODY other than Non-Cartel fans give a rat's !@#whether Houston gets left out of the CFP. In fact, fans of the 64+ Cartel (and Notre Dame)Mafia coupled with casual college football fans won't be offended in the least when Houston, or Boise State, or Marshall, or Georgia Southern, or NIU( just to name a few perenial contenders) are systematically voted down by the CFP Committee based on "Strength of Schedule". They actually agree with Danny Kanell. Sad, but True.
