Hoping if Collins gets the job that he goes out and gets a good offensive mind for OC. If he can't find one, make our existing interim HC, Danny Barrett, the new OC. I think he would be talented and is already experienced with UCF's players

Is there enough money to hire a good OC?

I'm still a big supporter of Norvell. I honestly think he'll make a great HC. Very smart. Has worked with some of the best offensive coaches in College football.

I'm fairly certain Porter had never even been a coordinator prior to getting the Memphis job. Collins has been a DC at Western Carolina, FIU, Miss State, and now at Florida, not to mention was on staff with you guys for a couple of years. As an outsider unless you guys are looking to completely change things up and go with some sort of Baylor/Oregon type spread offense he'd be a great choice.

Yeah, Porter was a position coach and Miles had him listed as 'assistant head coach' at LSU, whatever that actually means. Johnson was told by all of Larry's old teammates who were now in the Memphis high school coaching ranks that if he hired Larry, they'd start funneling players to him. However, Larry was expected to hire some of his old teammates to be on the coaching staff. He didn't (Jimmy Sexton basically dictated the staff to him) and they didn't provide players. The whole situation was one of the biggest debacles I've seen in college sports. The upside is that it led to the (forced) retirement of RC Johnson as AD.
