Yes, it rained from start to finish (it took a halftime break and started back up at the same time the game did) so a lot of people stood under cover and never made it to their seats. I expected it to be much emptier, and was impressed with the number of people who sat in the steady drizzle, which at times was more than that.

While I think the 40,000 number is a bit bogus, just based on my eyeball account and the horrible parking situation, I'll safely say the actual attendance was in the 36,000 range.

As compared to a Thursday night game with an NFL team playing in the same city that night and the local MLB team playing in the playoffs same night?

Also it can't be raining or too sunny or windy. It will effect ECU attendance.

Hmmm...50k sellout against VT in a hurricane 07-coffee3

Tulsa won 10+ games 5 out of 7 times from 2007 to 2012. And then we fell off the face of the earth.

I hate it when that happens. UCF was great a couple of years ago and now look. Tulsa was manly in the mid 2k's, now not so much. And who can forget the S Miss program of the 90's and early 2000's? Consistently winning 7-9 games is hard if you are playing a hard schedule.
