Could this be the AAC of the future?
Add: Army (football-only), BYU, Boise State, UNLV, San Diego St., Air Force

West Division: BYU, Boise State, UNLV, San Diego St., Air Force, Tulsa
Central Division: Army, Navy, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Tulane
East Division: UConn, Cincy, Temple, ECU, UCF, USF

9 -game schedule (5 in division, 2 vs each of the other two divisions on 3-year rotation) with two division winners with best records meeting in conference championship game (allowed for by deregulation).
Basketball: UConn, Cincy, Temple, Memphis, SMU, BYU, UNLV, San Diego St., Tulsa could all be NCAA tourney teams in a given year (16 total for basketball).

Lmao

No. Dream on about BYU man. And I'm not sure all these realignment fans get how it works, but you'll never see a conference with any combination of Army Navy or Air Force in it. That just wont happen...

Also who the hell wants to add UNLV?

You guys do know that GaState won a game in the NCAA tournament last year right. And if you didn't know they are also located in Atlanta. That could be a marriage made in heaven/hell.

You'll never seen any combination of army, navy, or air force in the same conference.... how is this so hard for people to get?

I would be fine with something like this. ive suggested taking 6 MW teams to create an 18 team 3-division nationwide conference. i would also add 1 non-football schools to each diviision. VCU in the east, Wichita in the central division, and BYU olympic sports in the west (I dont think BYU will join for football).

Yes ... in the alternate version of the Universe where this might happen, SDSU and Boise State are already in the American.

I would only add 2 of 4 CUSA schools for upgrade.
WKU
La Tech
USM
Marshall
All are decent football additions in Football friendly States within the current AAC footprint.
The next contract should be much higher and well earned .

Throw Rice as part of the mix, along with Army, Air Force etc.

RE: Could this be the AAC of the future?
Here's the current state of the AAC and what will happen:

Currently there are 4 outstanding teams in the AAC (Memphis, Houston, Temple and Navy - yes throwing them on this level). Cincy is pretty good and will finish strong, ECU is decent.... everyone else is pretty bad. UConn and SMU certainly have room/history to improve but no guarantees. UCF / USF also have some very high points in history but neither should be expected to be contenders in the next couple seasons.

Navy and Temple will both be very down next year - lots of seniors.

Memphis will lose their QB, who is hands down the best player in the conference.

Next year's AAC might look more like last year's than this year; no ranked teams. Preseason, who would be ranked next year in the top 25? Perhaps Houston? Maybe a hangover vote for Memphis. Cincinnati also has some rebuilding to do with seniors.

The Big East/AAC has tried before to swallow MWC schools to new avail. Next year, Boise is going to be preseason ranked and solid. They have Washington State (remember, they are in first place in their division of the Pac 12 now and have a lot coming back) and BYU (should be improved too) coming into their building so they don't need the AAC names coming to play in the blue turf for any reason.

This is going be cyclical. I think the MWC and AAC stay the same unless another P5 movement happens (which won't happen). There's going to be years where the AAC is better like this year and years where the MWC is better. If the AAC is going to expand, it needs to grab VCU or Witchita State, (non football obviously).

Though Intriguing, I believe the American needs to stick to being Texahoma and East. Add Toledo or Northern Illinois, Army, UMASS, and Marshall or So Miss to get to 16.
