Football recruiting thoughts
Coach Fuente hasn't recruited guys with 4 and 5 stars....as he's recruited guys who give 5-star effort with 5-star discipline and commitment.

Fuente is no longer a secret to the college football world including prospective recruits ESPECIALLY QBs

The question is whether 4 and 5 star kids bringing a sense of entitlement with them (as we've seen the last 25 years in basketball)....AND....whether that entitlement can be managed.

Throngs of kids will want to play for Justin and he demands a lot and sends the problems packing (Marquis, Oflesby stayed home from Tulsa)

Fuente has maturity and vision way beyond his years with enduring confidence balanced any an endearing humility

The anti-Calipari

He will be a joy to watch and support

I think we keep him

Well, you've proven you're not an alias. Everyone else knows how to edit their posts. To your point, I don't think having more stars means you definitely have entitlement issues. I would agree that the more a kid is treated like a god, the more a kid can become brainwashed into believing stupid crap. I also know there are kids whose parents don't allow them to get trapped in a mindset that ultimately holds them back from becoming the best possible. Finding these kids, with amazing physical tools and athletic prowess, who also are solid kids who believe in working hard for self and team, is key for a coach like Fuente.

Think about it

I thought you were talking about Coach Fuente.

Honestly, I get lost in the shuffle when it comes to the various alliances and alias accusations. And since I get lost in that shuffle and don't really care about it, I should've just stayed away from it.

RE: Football recruiting thoughts
Saban and Fuente have similar personalities, at least from what I can tell from a TV screen. However Sabans specialty is defense while Fuente is offense, but similar coaching styles nonetheless. Excluding the fact that Saban has the Alabama name behind him, he seems to be able to break the 4 and 5 stars that he recruits of any cockiness they may have before playing them.

I doubt that Fuente will have too many issues breaking in new recruits from them before playing them. Otherwise he just sits them on the bench until they learn.

basically what you are saying is that he knows how to coach.

if he is able to get 4 star players he will coach them the same way, and some will leave but most will stay and thrive.

I hope he signs a real long term deal here, it would do a lot of good for the city the school and the football program.

RE: Football recruiting thoughts
As we are beginning to see, the uncertainty of Coach Fuente staying at UM is starting to take it's toll as players are unsure if he is staying or going elsewhere. I hope the powers decide quickly on what he's planning so that we don't take a major tumble without any type of notice as when Cal left for Kentucky. Recruits are starting to waiver and decommit as other universities are using this against us.

You think not, but funny I'm hearing it from other parents and high school football players that are seriously considering UM. In fact we just lost a football player, 13th in the state that committed, and after listening to rumors, changed his commitment to MTSU. It's in earlier message and also on rivals.

if a kid chooses MTSU over Memphis at this point in the year is not because he is hearing rumors about Fuente leaving, we are about 100 days from signing day.
