No surprise. I watched a bit of the Clemson game and it looked like his team had quit on him.

Crazy thing though is miami can still win their division if they win out.

Agree on all points. He was feeling the heat for some time now and the Clemson game was the final straw. Strangely, they put up a hecuva fight against FSU on the road just the week before too.

Watched them 3 games before they came to Nippert and I guaranteed the win for a reason. That team is just not very good. Boring, simple offense. Boring, simple defense. They had better players than the play book they used.

Any recruits committed to The U Gran was in on?

The guy with the plane and the "Fire Golden" banner just saved a ton of money for the rest of the year.

Four-star wide receiver Ahmmon Richards of West Palm Beach, Fla is the 1st to de-commit but he will most likely end up at an SEC school.

Should make the knee-jerk segment of their fan base happy.

I posted this in another thread last night:

I have heard and wouldn't be surprised if the rumors are true that a group of alumni at the U would like the program to go after Tubbs. He has a great history there and they saw 1st hand what the Bearcats did to Golden's Hurricane team.

Perhaps it would be a good fit if his wife wasn't happy living back home. He seems to have a lot of passion about The U which is completely understandable since he was part of something historic there to start his major college career. 3 national championship rings as a grad assistant and an assistant and then being the DC one year in 93'.

Hmm...Guilford, Indiana...Miami, Florida...Guilford, Indiana...Miami, Florida...I dunno...seems like with the salary Tuberville makes, his wife can fly back as much as she wants - and even maintain a house here - and many family members wouldn't mind heading south.

Don't get me wrong, Guilford is nice - part of my own family is from there - but I think if Miami came calling the choice wouldn't be difficult.

I'd be surprised if that gets a ton of traction. An average Miami team did hammer us pretty good down at their place last year. I can't imagine they'd be real excited to get a coach in his twilight coming off mediocre success at a G5 school to resurrect their program. But I do know many of their fans are fond of him based on his work their 20+ years ago.

Miami

Status: Open

Breakdown: Buyer beware. Ed Reed isn't walking through that door. Miami has limited fan support, an awkward stadium situation and will be pitching a generation of recruits that only know The U is relevant thanks to 30 for 30s. (A lot of college officials consider Virginia Tech the better job). There's also limited finances, which show how college football has passed Miami by. Consider that two potentially viable names—Dan Mullen ($4 million) and Charlie Strong ($5 million)—currently make more than the Hurricanes will likely be able to pay. Miami failed to adequately invest in its program during the glory years of the early 2000s, and after college football underwent its boom in the past decade the Hurricanes have done little to catch up. The most likely option is someone with a link to the past, like former defensive coordinator Greg Schiano or former tight end and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski. After all, the past and recruiting base are the only real strong sells at Miami.

Miami's swag is gone, and it needs someone to energize the three-county area around the school to revitalize it. That's not an easy task with Florida State and Florida on upswings.

Names: Greg Schiano, Rob Chudzinski, Mario Cristobal, Doc Holliday, Tom Herman and Justin Fuente

You might be right, but I also think a lot of people still regard Tuberville highly. I'm not making any statements about probabilities, but it wouldn't surprise me if Tuberville put his own name into the hat.

I still think a retread like Lane McMuffkin or a guy looking for a better fit like Charlie Strong will surface for this opening come December.

Miami can be rebuilt. It's still a national brand and a city where people want to be. They don't need a $5M coach.

It will be interesting to see what direction they take with a new coach.

This one is Schiano's...IF he wants it. There were strong rumors that Schiano was Miami bound when Zook got canned and again when Shannon got fired. He'll be their first pick.

Davis has way too much NCAA baggage.

Charlie Strong? I would consider Texas a much better job than the U. Twenty years ago maybe not, but things have changed.

If UCF were smart, they would be looking at Holliday. That would be a good fit, IMO...
