RE: Would the AAC be a P6 conference if it still had Rutgers and Louisville...
We had pretty much already lost that battle by the time those teams left in 2012. I believe the concept of the "group of five" was a done deal by then (announced as official in 11/12/2012). The below article, describing the decision, is kinda interesting in retrospect.

No....when Syracuse and Pitt left the old BIG EAST the writing was on the wall...if no expansion and if the Old BIG EAST could have expanded-(which is what I wanted at the time) with UCF, TCU, Houston and either a Temple/Memphis while holding onto Louisville, Rutgers, WVU, Pitt and Syracuse that would have been a fun 12 School P6 league...ppl forget TCU was headed to the old BIG EAST before they got the Big XII invite.

The AAC today is putting together a pretty impressive resume, but yes, that would of being a ready made sexy looking league.

considering we were picked first it would be ECU, Tulsa in that order who was added last

Tulane fans are hilarious. We were picked at the same time and announced on the same day. If you think Tulane was added for anything athletics related, you're mistaken.

I have inside knowledge and ECU was wanted by the football schools for the first round. Many things changed for many reasons and the Big East collapsed. Anyone who tells you different doesn't know the truth. Tulane and Tulsa were not in the mix until the end.
The answer to the OP is still no, even if history had unfolded with the original football wants. That's exactly why the Big East had the first two defections.
