B1G West, week 4 - Oct 24th
11AM (Central):

Northwestern (5-2) at Nebraska (3-4) -- ESPN2

230PM (Central):

Wisconsin (5-2, rec. votes AP) at Illinois (4-2) -- BTN

- I'd like the home teams to win today, in both games

- NW is reeling and Nebraska got a huge shot of confidence last week

- Wisconsin is pretty well back on track after the home loss to Iowa. But I'm hoping a trip to U-C won't be fortuitous for them today!

Iowa benefits more by Northwestern and Wisconsin both winning so, for that reason that is what I am hoping for.

Iowa should be fine, either way. No chance for the Gophs, so by Nebraska and Illinois losing, it leaves open the possibility of a defacto B1G West Championship game in Lincoln.

(would need Minn to keep the pig, for Iowa to have a chance to miss the CCG with a Nebraska win)

the west is over just about. Iowa needs to win against Maryland, Indiana, Minnesota, and Purdue to clinch the west. those teams are 1-12 in Big Ten play so far.

Nebraska looking a non bowl season square in the eyes right now. They have games left with Michigan St and Iowa. Would need to split those games and beat both Purdue and Rutgers to go bowling. Tough to see them getting by Michigan St or Iowa.

Well, of course -- second week in a row -- what I did not want to happen is exactly what happened. Kiss of death, I guess.

B1G West standings (conf):
Iowa - (3-0) 7-0
Wisconsin - (3-1) 6-2
NW - (2-2) 6-2
Illinois - (1-2) 4-3
Minnesota - (1-2) 4-3
Nebraska - (1-3) 3-5
Purdue - (0-3) 1-6

Next week:

- NW is off this week.

- Nebraska gets their free win vs Purdue.

- Everyone else plays a B1G East team. Arguably, the most interesting game is Michigan at Minnesota on Halloween night, for the Jug. Would love to see the Gophs somehow rally and pull it off. Need two wins to go bowling, gonna be tough. Hoping for a game similar to Ohio St at Minnesota last year.

Iowa plays Maryland(ostensibly an easier opponent than Bye, but that's a different subject).
