UConn
Temple
Navy
ECU
Cincinnati
UCF
USF
UAB
Marshall
WKU
MTSU
ODU

Houston
SMU
Memphis
Tulsa
Tulane
Rice
UTEP
UTSA
North Texas
Louisiana Tech
Southern Miss
Texas State/LaLa/Ark St

F_U to the Belt where they belong. Charlotte can maybe take the last spot if they improve and move Navy to the West conference if they want that.

Last time I checked Marshall had a real tough time moving from the MAC to C-USA and didn't become relevant until ECU, Houston, Tulsa, and whoever else left. No need to belittle Florida Atlantic or International, and there is no need to send them back to the belt. One situation that would be ideal, trade the CUSA Idaho, NMSU, Texas State, and ULM for Marshall, Louisiana Tech, and Southern Miss, and WKU. Add North and South divisions with the split merger of the AAC and the Belt.

Regional, public schools, great support, proven winners, and would basically absorb the East of the Mississippi half of the US.

(The reason I suggest this is because each of the schools in the Belt after the switch are proven winners. And this thread is about hypothetical events that are never going to happen.)

Typical Marshall poster. The funny thing is that FIU would probably be considered by the AAC before Marshall.

We had a tough time moving to C-USA because we hired Mark Snyder at the same time, and you can ask ECU how relevant we were in their final conference game.

I'd definitely welcome Appy and maybe even Georgia Southern to my awesome hypothetical Eastern Conference. But I want no part of Coastal/Georgia State/Troy/USA etc...

I still remember when C-USA added TCU and SMU... I was disgusted because I felt they were "beneath" C-USA quality at the time. I felt even more so when USF was invited a few years later. I felt the additions of Marshall and UCF were good simply because they had seen solid on field success. Never in a zillion years would I have thought that TCU, SMU, or USF would move to better conferences than Southern Miss. Why would they? We had 18 straight winning seasons... right? Well... I didn't understand that the reason they were added had little to do with the product on the field. It had to do with markets. It was best for the conference (at the time). It gave the conference more money to share from the TV contract. It provided those schools with a garden to build their programs and plan their next move. Schools like FIU, FAU, UTSA, etc can do the same. The benefit of a large market in this day and age is bigger than anything else in conference expansion.

I wouldn't post this on the AAC board for fear of a lynching, but I honestly believe ECU has maxed out. Don't see much more growth potential. They don't seem to have done much brand building in quite a few years now.

They will flirt with top 25 occasionally, but their market size is constricted by UNC, NC State, Duke and to some small degree Wake. Now Charlotte comes along and will someday dilute their growth potential even more. IF it is true that eyeballs on TV screens will drive growth, they don't seem like a growth market to me.

I personally would prefer Freddy's for chain burger joints. Burgers are similar to Steak 'n Shake but IMHO taste better. Plus who doesn't like shoestring fries and their fry dipping sauce is awesome.

Best burger I've ever had though was at Pharmacy Burger in east Nashville.

I've been to The Pharmacy at least a half dozen times and never left disappointed, but I'm told it's not even the best burger in Nashville. Got pretty close to 50/50 split on people picking between The Pharmacy and Burger Republic. I was skeptical at first as the first person that told me BR was better worked there, but I asked about a dozen of my friends who still live in the Middle Tennessee area and it was pretty split.

Burgers are one of those things(like pizza) that I try to avoid saying "________ is the best I've ever had". So many different styles, so many different takes on different styles.

I view burgers(as well as pizza and cheap crappy mexican) as pretty much falling in the top ~5%, the bottom ~5% or somewhere in between.

ECU is fine. The school in the AAC that is a joke is Tulane.

I was really glad when Steak and Shake appeared in Houston.

I would join any conference with any of those names.

I've had Burger Republic as well as Burger Up. Both are great burger joints in Nashville. I just haven't found anything better then the Pharm Burger at Pharmacy. My close second is actually either Burger Up (Nashville) or Jumbo 'n Delicious (in Hendersonville).

But I agree. So many different styles and stuff like pizza it's hard for any one place to be the "best". Everyone has their own tastes.

All I know is Tulane proved it is not about sports. Good airport, destination location, media market: that is what it is about. Maybe it should not be, but it is.

Grew up in the Midwest ... still love my Steak and Shake whenever I'm back.

Having now lived in SoCal for several years ... In-N-Out burgers are still really good. I do find their fries pretty average. And yes - the hype nationally is probably a little much.

In all honesty, other conferences have used the model that the AAC has with Tulane. You need one prestigious academic institution with a mega endowment that can be the perennial doormat for the rest of the conference... Occasionally they'll sneak up on someone but they usually don't, thus ensuring that the middle of the conference gets that one extra win which gets more teams Bowl eligible. Hell, if not for Vanderbilt, Kentucky would never be Bowl eligible.....they can win one game against a FCS team, win 3 OOC games against weaker G5 teams at home and then all they need is 2 conference wins. The SEC and the Big10 have perfected this model.

How about everybody just stick together and stop all the nonsense. They dont have anymore access to anything than CUSA already does. Its a lateral move at best. I like our lineup and I like where we are. Let's keep it that way.
