I'm super psyched but also curious how the hell we get a 3 star guy out of high school? Assuming he is healthy, I can't imagine the pitch we had to give him to be willing to sit out a whole year. Awesome stuff.

I would expect that the staff promoted the new facilities we are planning to build.

Could be that UAB promised him a shot at QB while others may be thinking of him as a TE. With UAB's hiatus the offensive staff could take the time to work with him...

Great point.

With us, he can sit out a year and THEN be a "true" freshman in 2017. In other words, he'll have 5 years to play 4 starting in 2017.

We should have a physically old team in the first couple of years back, especially in 2018.

If only we had a schedule for these guys to play.....

Reminds me of another big-body QB that everyone else was recruiting as a FB or LB (though Marshall has him beat by several inches)...

Yep. He is a BIG kid, especially for a HS QB. I've seen him listed as large as 6'5", 245lbs...

Drew is doing a followup after he talks to him and hopes to have details...

My thoughts exactly. I watched the highlight video at the bottom hoping for a hellacious stiff arm. Maybe a future highlight

Watched about half the video and he played 4 different positions. I think if he really wanted he could chunk it 70 yards. He just flicked his wrist on a couple of them and dropped it in the bucket from 30 yards.

Off his back foot no less. If he is gonna play QB, he will need some coaching. Poor form, but good enough for high school apparently. But the potential is definitely there.

If you want to go to grad school, that's six years of school paid for by UAB football. Not a bad incentive.

Second, we know there are plenty of people out there angry and offended at what Junior and Friends did. Some of them, no doubt, play football. This is the place to be if you're a rebellious sort with a 30-pound chip on your shoulder.

To echo what some others have said, I couldn't help but think of Hackney as I watched his video. Whatever position he plays, he looks like a big talent. Impressive recruiting from the staff, given our circumstances.

Right now, it seems the LSU boys are just having a getaway weekend. Not sure which way Calhoun is leaning. I think we have a silent commit visiting.
