I totally agree. The Portland State loss was an embarrassment of historic proportions. We can not fall farther. We are at rock bottom. This is the perfect time to clean house.

I was not and I'm still not happy about the need to fly this banner. But, as others have stated, many have tried to gain an audience with the president, and all have been ignored.

RV has been in charge for 15 years. If we switched our Football teams, Men's and Women's basketball teams, coaches, records, the whole lot... would y'all keep him?

I didn't think so either.

No one wants to embarrass anyone. This is what happens when the majority of boosters are publicly called the "minority" by the AD. Portland State embarrassed our university and by association, this conference, far more then any banner ever could.

I believe if Rick resigns or is fired the money will be donated to the athletic department.

I'm glad to say I'm one of those who donated to make the banner fly. This banner won't get RV fired and it may not amount to much of anything. But it may just get the President and the BOR to understand the unhappiness that's out there and get them looking more closely at RV's record. This isn't based on this season but a history going back a long time.

We G5-ers have the same problem with ADs as we do with coaches. Say you hire the hot-shot OC as your football coach, but then it turns out he sucks as a motivator or doesn't know jack about defense. It takes a special SOB to be a successful FBS athletic director these days. Some are great with fundraising, some are great with bettering facilities, some are great at hiring coaches, but very few are good at it all at the same time, and if they are, they won't be around long.

I'm not at all defending RV. I rarely heard good things about him when he was an assistant/associate AD at USM. One of his nicknames among fans/boosters was "We're Working On It," which was the reply people came to expect from him when presented with a question.

I'm just saying is this kind of trial and error goes with the territory for schools like ours. If he needs to go, the sooner y'all do it, the better.
