The Curious Case of Austin Grammer
Thought some of you who faced Grammer last year may find this interesting. He has been moved to WR while also remaining as the team's primary backup at QB. Below are a couple of excerpts...
Grammer, still the team’s backup quarterback, has lined up at running back and as a wide receiver over the past two games against Western Kentucky and Florida International.
"We are down two starters at wide receiver and down six (running) backs, so we have to find people who can get on the field to help us and can contribute,” head coach Rick Stockstill said on Monday. “Austin is a good athlete and has been working at wide receiver the last three weeks and has done a nice job out there.”
When asked if fans could see the letters “WR” next to his name next year, Grammer said he would have to consider all his options.

RE: The Curious Case of Austin Grammer
Our offense is vastly different with Stockstill running it vice Grammer.
With Stockstill the offense has become much more pass oriented in the pocket. Without Grammer at the position we have lost a lot of the pass/run options and read option plays.

Very curious. Curious indeed. Glad AG is still seeing playing time.

I didn't realize that David Washington had played quarterback for a full season, thrown for over 2500 yards and nearly 20 touchdowns.
Guess it was less rare than I thought.
And FWIW I didn't write the headline.

Wow, touchy this morning... I guess I need to be more transparent. Obviously wasn't suggesting his numbers compared, just pointing out the position change from QB to WR (and in DW's case, back to QB).

So, the I'm bored with coffee emoticon was just for fun then...?

I would assume the people who wrote that identify this as unique because - and you know I'm just guessing here - aside from the crazy situation at Ohio St, it seems rare that a quarterback would play a full season - essentially 100% of the snaps, lose the job the next year and also remain both the backup QB and a WR/RB the next year.
I mean if that's an every day occurrence please correct me.

Grammer is good enough to be starting for a number of FBS schools at QB.

RE: The Curious Case of Austin Grammer
Not a fan of the two QB systems either, but I think our idiot offensive coaches have failed to use him properly. He doesn't need to be playing WR.
He needs to be entered as a change of pace QB maybe 6 to 8 snaps a game. How many times does a team have a player who can essentially come in run a wildcat but have Division I-A ability to throw the football? Inserting Grammer on some pass/run option plays would be fun and hard to defend. If you had to account for both Stockstill as well as Grammer a handful of times a game it would be difficult on the defense plan for that.
But our coaches aren't that smart.

Not sure if it was not smart enough or just protecting Brent(and themselves) from a qb controversy. They probably expected to see a game or two where Brent looked like a freshman. So far he has only looked bad against Western. Surprised it hasn't gotten more talk but he was pretty terrible that game. You may see Grammer more now that Brent has removed any doubts about the decision.

Grammer lit us up. While I think little Stockstill is a much better QB, Grammer was a poor matchup for us. He seems like a good player, I wouldn't be surprised if he transferred with that "consider options" quote.

Him being moved to WR would seem to contradict this point of view.
