A clash of football Titans this will not be. But for the Owls, after an emotional come-from-behind win at FAU, it's an opportunity to set the stage for a run at the CUSA West Championship. Hopefully the 2 weeks off will help with the injuries, the attitude and the karma.

Weather forecast is for 80-90% chance of thunderstorms and temps in the 70's.

In any case, it does look like they've moved the heaviest rain windows back to the weekend and that's not good news for us. Let's just hope it's not thunderstorms. We can play in the type of rain we're getting today. Those silly thunder/lightning delays that we got during the Wagner game were a pain (since we never got anything close to actual rain that day).

Would downpours help us or Army more?

Army. They don't even try to pass.

We are supposed to play UTSA in women's rugby at noon. I have my doubts that game will happen.

I'll go with Rice in a big way, 48-17.

Local channels are saying 40% in the morning hours up to game time and 60% by 1 pm. WeatherUnderground is at 70% until 11 and 80% thereafter with thunderstorms starting at 10.

Looks like lightening delays in our future.

Rice will win big b/c

- Army is 2nd to last in FBS in pass attempts (low deep ball threat)
- Army QB (Bradshaw) is banged-up. 2nd string guy likely to start
- Extra week to prepare for option assignments
- FAU 4Q mojo (similar to Memphis game a few years ago) starts the annual 2H run of W's in late Oct/Nov.
- Army is simply not that good. Playing lots of youngsters. They barely beat Bucknell (#220 in Sagarin) w/ a 2H rally last week

Rice could make it close if
- Turnover bug continues
- Rain gives advantage to Army
- Rice sleepwalks through the early kick

Baylor was perfect storm of why made sense to lose big, this should be perfect storm for why a big W. Should set stage for a big 2H of season. Perfect opponent for Rice at this juncture. Owls cruise 42-14.

The win at Army last year was our best performance (perhaps the Fresno win was as good) given that it was a road game in cool damp weather. Even losing Cella we controlled both sides of the ball and Driphus had a very good game.

This game should be the same if not even more one sided for the Owls as Army has played even poorer this year, but as owl40 points out if we fail to show up it will be difficult. The last visit by Army was a needlessly close game in 2008, an Owl win by 7 as we gave up huge yardage on the ground.

Question: At what point do Army's travel plans precipitate a cancellation of the remainder of the game? Or the whole game?

How bad is Penn St? Worse than Rice? We look a lot at Sagarin ratings a lot here... They beat Army 20-14 at home.
