Ole Miss TV Ratings
Quote:ABC’s Noon ET window, which featured regional action, drew a 2.3 overnight — down 30% from last year (3.3) and down 38% from 2013 (3.7), both of which were Oklahoma/Texas Red River Rivalry games.

The ESPN2 mirror numbers haven't been published yet, but it's still good considering the coverage split (a large portion of the US got the game).

In the 3:30 slot, Oklahoma/Kansas State drew a 1.3 overnight rating on ABC.

RE: Ole Miss TV Ratings
Considering that these two schools and their fan bases cover probably no more than a couple hundred square miles, I'm surprised we got that large of viewership. The average college football fan outside of the southeast probably had little or no interest in this game.

That could change one day should the Big 12 ever open its doors to us.

Whole thing about it is that Memphis IS ACTUALLY RELEVANT in college football ! When my cousin ,whom I have not seen in 25 years, contacts me from Lubbock Tx and heaps praise on "Memphis State" football team being good...well they have made a splash. Now the tigers need ,and I believe they will, to finish the deal starting with taking out Tulsa Friday night on ESPN...

Memphis yielded bad ratings last year. With better platforms, they are beating league all time bests...apples to apples...year over year. All things equal, Memphis can draw.

As a comparison to apples to apples, ND and USC drew a 2.9 on NBC this past weekend. Last year the same game drew a 1.5 on Fox, which was ever so slightly better than the Memphis / Cinci draw on a Thursday night on ESPN.

The channel your games are on matter. Memphis will have some really good numbers this year.

Absolutely! I've tried to compare Memphis against relevant channels/times. So far, they have outperformed previous AAC ratings.

Reverse mirror on ESPN2 got 504K. It'll be interesting to see how many tune in tomorrow against Tulsa. So far, Memphis conference games have outperformed year over year bests per platform. We'll see if that trend continues. Last year UCONN/USF had 1.36M viewers on an ESPN Friday night. Numbers for tomorrow's game won't be available until Monday afternoon.

I think U of M said we had about 10 million viewers for the OM game....which seems about right, based on the ratings.

Here's some updated info just out from CBS Sports:

At the halfway point of this season, the AAC has already had 12 games draw more than one million television viewers, according to senior associate commissioner Tom Odjakjian. The American produced 11 for all of the 2014 season. Ole Miss-Memphis drew a 2.6 overnight rating that Odjakjian said ranks in the top half of the ABC noon ET games this year.

We don't get a lot of money from ESPN but having Thursday and Friday games has certainly increased the AAC's exposure. Not sure if you can put a price tag on that.
