Question for Steve1981
According to the UMass website, it states that the parking lot/tailgating at Gillette opens 3 hours before gametime. Since it is an NFL stadium, I assume that is strictly enforced, but if it is not, we would like to get down there and tailgate as early as possible.

Also looking for info on any sports bars, English/Irish pubs, Micro Breweries in the area, that you might recommend? Restaurants for that matter as well.

Gillette is kind of at a mall there are 4 or 5 restaurants but no microbreweries. Tailgating at Gillette isn't an issue unless you are out of control, even then not really. Pats games are still fine, there are tons of Staties at Pats games but nobody cares. The Cops are usually cool unless you are a *******.

Hey Toledoans, an OHIO fan in Boston here. Hoping to make the game Saturday, and here are some tips:

Rocket A: The three hour window in the Gillette lots is somewhat firm, although you may see a little leeway by the lot attendants. As for an Irish Bar in the area, this is it: http://sharon.mickmorgans.com/, which is on Rt. 1 coming to the stadium from Boston, and about two miles from Gillette.

On brewpubs, as Minutemen pointed out there is nothing in the direct vicinity, although at Patriot Place adjacent to the stadium there are several bars such as CBS Scene, Bar Louie, Toby Keith's plus a couple of nicer restaurants. http://www.patriot-place.com/ If you are seeking brewery tours/tastings, you should check out both the Sam Adams Brewery in Jamaica Plain https://www.samueladams.com/boston-brewe...ery-tours, and Harpoon on the Boston Waterfront, which has a mammoth and very cool beer hall http://www.harpoonbrewery.com/. There is also a new beer hall opened in Framingham at a brewery called Jack's Abbey that is killing it in the first few weeks of being open, http://jacksabby.com/, and has great pizzas.

MBG, if you are staying in Boston and plan to site see, then definitely take a Fenway tour http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/bos/ballpark/, and also walk the Freedom Trail http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/, which takes you around MA's #1 attraction, Faneuil Hall http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/. Definitely need to take in the history if you are in the city. The State of Ohio was actually founded a block away from Faneuil Hall at the site of the Bunch of Grapes Tavern which is marked by a plaque, and there is an Ohio University founders plaque there as well. If you go to the National Park Service station at the Old State House, you can get a sheet detailing the Ohio history related to Boston, http://www.revolutionaryboston.org/. You should also check out Boston Common/Public Garden while in that area, and if you have wives with and want to do some shopping then check out Newbury Street http://www.newbury-st.com/.

But the thing is, Foxboro is a ways away from Boston, so it all depends on where you are flying in/out of, and where you are staying. If you are staying south/Providence area, check out the Newport Mansions http://www.newportmansions.org/, or take a day trip out to Cape Cod. And if you are staying in Providence, there is a brewpub called Union Station Brewery https://www.johnharvards.com/locations/providence-ri/.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and if you see an OHIO flag in the parking lot then swing by for a beer.

I was already planning on going to Fenway and walking the Freedom Trail. So I guess I'm off to a good start. 04-cheers I might venture out towards Cape Cod on one of the days. I was thinking about hitting up the Pats game on Sunday, since my hotel is just a couple miles from Gillete, but the game is obviously sold out, and the secondary market is starting at $275+! 04-jawdrop

Duck Boat rides are fun and a good way to see the city.

Thanks guys, work has been brutal and will not let up.

Have not visited but hard the Bass place is nice as well and assume you've found the sites and lot maps.

Will be in lot 5 near the front. Friend has a white UMass sign, but unfortunately will not be arriving until 12:30. You're welcome to stop by our tail gate.
