Neat encounter with out of town visitors to Tigers-OM game
Posted this on facebook originally and decided to share here too. Anyone else happen to run in to these guys?
Quote:Excuse the long post here, but I wanted to share about our fun encounter at the Memphis-Ole Miss game Saturday!
Standing at the Tiger Walk waiting on the team, a guy pops over and asks us "What do you say? Do you say Go Memphis, Go Tigers?" So we started chatting.
He and a group of about 5 other friends have a yearly tradition of taking a road trip to a football game somewhere in the country. A guys' retreat and a fun way to check out other schools/stadiums/fan bases, etc... They were very complimentary on the vibe. Last year they went to a Wisconsin game and said the day was just sort of so-so, and nothing like the electricity coming from Tiger Lane. And they were very happy with their choice coming here.
We ended up talking about the school, the stadium, Tiger Lane, how we tailgate. We were their 2nd option for the year. Originally they were heading to South Carolina vs LSU. The flooding cancelled that plan so they were left searching for other options. They saw our game on the schedule, us undefeated vs a high ranked Ole Miss, and they decided to head this way.
They left to check out more of the pre-game scene, but we invited them to find us on Tiger Lane using the Pipkin building and our white tailgating bus as directions. They showed back up about 30 minutes later, introducing them to a few others at the tailgate, showed off our "work-in-progress" tailgating bus, and sharing some mimosas while talking more football. One was a Michigan fan, most Ohio State fans, and one other team fan (sorry, I forgot).
As they left out again, to track down some Tiger gear to buy (they always root for the home team wherever they go), they told us so far the home team has always won at the games they went to, and for us not to disappoint. I said I hope they brought that luck with them. Sadly, we didn't get names (the multiple bloody mary's wiped out the first names I got) and meant to get a pic with them all and our group, but forgot.
Good luck to your group next year in whatever game you choose to head to. I hope you ended up enjoying the game as much as we did. I doubt this ever reaches you, but it was fun! Really nice to add you to our experience for the day!

With the way social media makes the rounds (6 degrees of separation and all) you never know if they might see your post.
If they do, let us know. As a Tiger fan I'd like to thank them for visiting and invite them back.

RE: Neat encounter with out of town visitors to Tigers-OM game
Saturday night was our annual HOA cookout and all the men on our street commented about the Memphis game to me. My next door neighbor is a high school athletic director and one of his sons used to be the offensive coordinator/QB coach at Air Force and he has always told me great things about CJF from day one.
His son is now at San Diego State. Not bad for two venues... Air Force Academy and San Diego, wow.
