I think if they do, they would have a deal like Notre Dame with the ACC.

Due to the LHN, UT has limited options. They can stay where they are until the contract expires with ESPN. They can leave and suffer a nasty GOR battle that would cut heavily and probably beyond their LHN profits. Or they could wait till near the end of the GOR and possibly break even.

Texas going independent is a case where there are balanced arguements both for and against.

I'd say Texas will stay in the B12. The CFP format doesn't favor independent schools since they don't play a conference championship game. 40% of B12 membership is in the state of Texas and that is their main recruiting ground.

I would imagine that 10 is the number for Big 12 for the future until the GOR is almost ended. I could then see Texas , Oklahoma, Kansas, West Virginia taking a hard look around at the options out there. They might remain intact but again Who really knows at this point in time. But 10 is far easier to dissolve a conference from than 12 or 14 would be.
