Even if you stack the box, they are gonna attempt to run the ball. That is who they are and what they do. The QB is more dangerous throwing the ball when a play breaks down and he improvises on the move than he is passing the ball from the pocket. They do have some WRs with ridiculous talent.

RE: WEEK 7 Power Rankings
Limiting the LSU QB from having a good game is just as big (if not more) for a Western huge upset as trying to slow down the run...

and being able to move the ball and put TDs on the scoreboard

Even with one of the easiest schedules in FBS, I don't see 3 more wins unless they can pull at a win at UTSA. Wouldn't be surprised if the FIU game is blowout

I would be willing to bet you didn't see an ODU win coming against Tech last year either, and you see how that turned out. By the way, we were bowl eligible at 6-6 last year.

You honestly don't see any possibility of ODU winning against UTEP and FAU at home? You don't see any chance of a win against an FIU team whose only wins are against UCF (0-7), UTEP (2-4) and FCS NC Central?

Yes, when it comes to the Monarchs, I am a homer, but I look at the remaining schedule and believe there are four very winnable games remaining -- not that the Monarchs will win all four, but it certainly not inconceivable that they will.

UTEP and FAU possible. That would be 5 wins for ODU. Im thinking ODU will split the the FAU and UTEP games so 4 wins. No for FIU, USM, WKU and probably not UTSA.

Worst-case scenario: No more wins, ODU goes 3-9, Bentley leaves the program and becomes a stud at another FBS program. Also sea-level rise explodes and ODU men's basketball has to forfeit the rest of its season and abandon campus permanently after a 25-0 start.
Best-case scenario: Wins against FAU and UTEP at home, UTSA and FIU on the road. WKU is a sleep-perchance-to-dream result. Southern Miss is too good and at home to seriously consider this season.
Best reasonable scenario: The aforementioned two home wins and a nail-biter of a win against either UTSA or FIU, bringing them to 6-6.

I wouldn't bet money on it but I wouldn't be pee-myself surprised if they got bowl-eligible this season.

I think ODU's most reasonable scenario is 5-7. What you consider "reasonable" is very pro-ODU. You want to split it 2 wins at home and 2 losses on the road, especially since ODU has not shown itself to be far apart from the group of the 4 teams that these games are against. THAT is reasonable.

I didn't say MOST reasonable, I said BEST reasonable. Like if a spread of reasonable scenarios was 4 to 6 wins. 6 being the best of the reasonable ones. The best case that has a reasonable shot at happening, in my opinion, is winning two of the three home games (certainly not WKU) and getting a road win either against UTSA or FIU (Southern Miss would be very unlikely).

I also said I wouldn't bet money on that happening, so clearly I don't think it's the most likely outcome. Just one that would be the best one that could happen that doesn't require some sort of Hollywood-style miracle (the intervention of Air Bud, for example).

5-7 in your scenario probably is more likely, yes, though it'll be interesting to see how the team evolves with a full week of David Washington at QB. He could come back to earth and ODU struggles the rest of the way, or the team could take a big step up and be competitive the rest of the way, which gets them into the bowl conversation.
