Game Week NIU
Last year at home EMU gave NIU a game with Bell at QB. Going into this game who will be the starter vs NIU?
Secondly who replaces Zappone? My guess is Adams.

RE: Game Week NIU
If I reading this right Adams is starting in place of Zappone and Bell is starting at QB?

I hear Bell & Roback are splitting time with the 1's this week at practice.

Interesting. We've still got 5 games left. Going forward, does Reggie stay at QB and occasionally come in to run read-option and wildcat formation, or do we start lining him up out wide?

Read option/wildcat would be realistic. How does anyone know that he can even play receiver? Has he ever in his life? What if he can't run routes and has hands of stone?Lot easier said than done.
If he has already done it successfully in practice, fine, rotate him in. Don't think that's the case this year. Probably going to need the rest of the year to truly evaluate Roback as the guy, while keeping Reggie ready as the backup.
Hopefully Roback takes charge with confidence, and less turnovers, and ends this QB controversy once and for all.

Does anyone who has seen Roback play think that he is anything but "serviceable?" Bell has the bigger upside. I would roll with Reggie and see what happens. I've seen enough of Roback, he is what he is...A-V-E-R-A-G-E. No crime in that but EMU needs a great QB and a strong running game to win games with that pathetic defense.

At this point in their careers, with plenty of starts each, both just average QB's. Both turn the ball over too much. Roback can at least stay healthy.
If neither improves markedly, then it's Pensyl or Stiebeling's job to put them both out to pasture.

Neither one's had a full season of starts. I'm willing to wait until next year to say either of them have plateaued.

RE: Game Week NIU
First, Reggie still has a tweaked ankle from the last game that remains wrapped. Second, I think the coaches and many of the players feel like the offense runs smoother and at a better pace when Roback is in. I think the common statement that "Reggie brings another dimension to the game" is overblown. Yes, he adds the QB run threat that Roback hasn't shown but it also takes away the passing game. Reggie will not throw the ball down the field and lacks the confidence in his throws to do so. So when he is in it's a read option with a passing game comprised of slants and screen passes. If Roback is in you may lose the threat of the QB run but you get a much more of a passing game threat. Folks criticize Roback for not running while others say he is fast in his own right. Both are correct. The fact is Roback was under strict orders while Reggie was injured not to run the ball. If he would have taken a hit and been injured, Pensyl was all they had...as DeBoer eluded to in the presser. I would not be surprised at all to see Roback playing more mobile at QB going forward now that they have Reggie healthy. I am not saying Roback is as explosive a runner at QB as Reggie, merely saying there is more to Roback than we have seen. That said, Roback needs to exercise better judgement and avoid those INTs that are hurting him.
I agree with those who say neither QB is a stud (yet), but I do think at least right now Roback gives us the best chance for a W.
Go Eagles!

Roback is a sophomore. He has shown plenty as a sophomore to be excited about his future.

I would flip a coin (or maybe use the official's coin toss) to see who starts
Heads: Bell
Tail: Roback (I chose to do it alphabetically).
