WMU should be a contender with Tava and I'm assuming David Brown is returning for his ninth year while he picks up that second doctorate.

Preseason rankings are dumb and mean nothing. Buffalo has brought in a lot of talented new guys, most with JUCO experience. They might be too high and at the end of the day they might be too low.

It is stupid when nobody has played a game yet

Ball State was 7-23(2-16) last year and they're picked 3rd in the West?

To clarify, it would seem the bottom half of each division is rated too low and the top half is rated too high.

If this follows the pattern of previous years' predictions, every team is either too high or two low, which is good news if you are picked last and bad news if you are picked first.

What does Ohio have that would cause them to move up from last years performance? All I remember of them is that their best players were Seniors and I think one of their freshman starters transferred to Evansville, so not a great deal returning. Are there a bunch of BCS type transfers coming eligible or something?

Akron is definitely in the same tier as CMU. Kent is probably in the second tier by itself, then its a bunch of question marks.

I won't say the MAC is going to be down because some of the teams with question marks could be be pretty good. But it seems like there is more uncertainty with the league this year than any time I can remember in recent years. Even Kent, while I think they will be good, has a ton of questions.

Right now, Akron and CMU appear to be the only teams that you know will be in the mix for the one tourney bid the league will get (again) this year.

I know that they have a few transfers coming in, Kaminski from MSU is eligible this year.

plus a second year with Saul will help, too. not sure how much but hopefully enough to avoid another 20 loss season. those don't sit too well with us.

The only thing I would question is Ohio, by all accounts this could be a very bad Ohio team, Id put them in the third tier. Really the only thing one can say with great confidence right now is that CMU is in the top tier
