Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 8
On to Week 8! The division races are heating up considerably on both sides of the Conference. Although, we haven't had many head-to-head clashes among those leaders as of yet, there is a potentially good inter-divisional battle setting up in Ruston this week that will have an effect on both divisions. And who knows what will happen if the Hilltoppers can knock off the Bayou Tigers? We'll all be watching that one! Plus, Army is visiting Rice...anytime one of the academies plays a C-USA team it's a big deal. Some great games on tap! Have fun!

All of our games this week are on Saturday, October 24, and we have some outstanding match-ups to test your "pickin" skills.

Only UTSA is taking a break in week 8. All others teams are "in play."

Southern Miss @ Charlotte; 12:00 pm, ET; ASN
Army @ Rice; 12:00 pm, ET; FSN
Middle Tennessee @ LaTech; 3:30 pm, ET; ASN
North Texas @ Marshall; 3:30 pm, ET; FSN
Old Dominion @ FIU; 6:00 pm, ET; No scheduled TV
FAU @ UTEP; 7:00 pm, ET; ASN
Western Kentucky @ LSU; 7:00 pm, ET; ESPNU. WatchESPN

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 8
Some good football is on tap for this weekend. I love it! (Although the season is rushing by too fast, for my taste.) Here are my picks.

Southern Miss @ Charlotte - Although Charlotte played well last week, the Eagles are a much tougher test.
Army @ Rice -I hate to say "must win" game for both Rice and the Conference, but...I said it anyway.
Middle Tennessee @ LaTech - I changed my mind...I think the Blue Raiders can take this thing.
North Texas @ Marshall - no way our Homecoming is ruined by the visting Green.
Old Dominion @ FIU - Panthers have to win the next three to be bowl eligible. And they will, with this being the first.
FAU @ UTEP - The Owls have the better team I think.
Western Kentucky @ LSU - I hope I'm wrong...I really do, but my head says Tigers.

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 8
Southern Miss @ Charlotte; 12:00 pm, ET; ASN--So. Miss, no chance there for Charlotte
Army @ Rice; 12:00 pm, ET; FSN--Rice will beat the ground pounders
Middle Tennessee @ LaTech; 3:30 pm, ET; ASN-- Empty U. I'll give this to Middle. They're pretty evenly matched. I think.
North Texas @ Marshall; 3:30 pm, ET; FSN--Marshall will stomp the poor Not Too Mean.
Old Dominion @ FIU; 6:00 pm, ET; No scheduled TV--FIU is better than their record and Odu barely squeaked by Charlotte.
FAU @ UTEP; 7:00 pm, ET; ASN--UTEP. This is hard. Heart vs. Homerism. Heck, we will win. Gulp.
Western Kentucky @ LSU; 7:00 pm, ET; ESPNU. WatchESPN--Western. We will find out how good or bad Western is.

USM in a rout.
Rice in a close one
Tech in a close one
Marsha in a laugher
FIU in a close one
Who cares but FAU may close out a win
WKU is a route, oops I meant LSU. Stack the box and sellout to stop no 7 and score everytime you get the ball and you have a chance.

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 8
Southern Miss @ Charlotte The Niners don't have enough to compete this year. 48-10
Army @ Rice The Owls need this win if they're to get bowl eligible. Rice beats a not very good Army team 37-17.
Middle Tennessee @ LaTech Middle continues its downward slide against the class of the West, and Tech wins pretty easily 38-21.
North Texas @ Marshall Marshall wins 45-3 and it might be worse than that.
Old Dominion @ FIU FIU has been really surprising this year, and should beat ODU. It'll be closer than it should be though, 30-27.
FAU @ UTEP FAU finally gets a win over a bad UTEP squad 27-21.
Western Kentucky @ LSU I'd really like to pick Western, but this LSU bunch really could be a playoff squad. Fournette has a solid day, but that keeps the score down, 31-21.

Only two I care to comment on

Tech over Middle
WKU over LSU

At least I hope it goes that way. Good luck to WKU and we will be pulling for you to do it big.

I hope WKU doesn't sit there best player and start exclusively running the ball when they get down by 2 TD's.

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 8
Southern Miss @ Charlotte — I hope Charlotte wins at least one CUSA game this season. This won't be the one. Southern Miss 44-20
Army @ Rice — Pivotal game for the Owls. Unfortunately, they allow a ton of rushing yards, and they're facing a team equipped to take advantage. And Army's pass defense is surprisingly stout. Army 21-17
Middle Tennessee @ LaTech — All the makings of a shootout. Louisiana Tech 56-40
North Texas @ Marshall — Much respect to the Mean Green for the fight they showed last week, and they'll show some more this week. That only gets you so far, though. Marshall 42-14
Old Dominion @ FIU — I don't do homer picks by and large, but I guess this one will break the streak. The Monarchs look a lot better with Washington at QB and a kicker that can actually kick field goals, and I can see an honest-to-God upset in the offing. Both teams playing for their postseason lives, so no matter what, expect a dogfight. Old Dominion 30-28
FAU @ UTEP — Coin toss. Florida Atlantic 27-24
Western Kentucky @ LSU — Hilltoppers have to be careful not to look ahead to the ODU game against whatever fly-by-night school it is they're playing this week. A fun first half, then the Tigers pour it on late. LSU 55-35

Southern Miss @ Charlotte; 12:00 pm, ET; ASN-Southern Miss by 17
Army @ Rice; 12:00 pm, ET; FSN-Should be able to handle Army at home
Middle Tennessee @ LaTech; 3:30 pm, ET; ASN-Where is Dixon? I think this will be a close game
North Texas @ Marshall; 3:30 pm, ET; FSN-by 40
Old Dominion @ FIU; 6:00 pm, ET; No scheduled TV-ODU not looking great this season
FAU @ UTEP; 7:00 pm, ET; ASN-UTEP in a mild upset, just not sure about FAU right now, they are a mystery, UTEP finally plays good enough to win by 1
Western Kentucky @ LSU; 7:00 pm, ET; ESPNU. WatchESPN-I think the first half we give LSU all they want and lead going into halftime, 2nd half starts and we fall behind and lose by 17

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 8
Southern Miss @ Charlotte; 12:00 pm, ET; ASN

My concern is that Mullens is playing a bit dangerous lately. One of these days he's gonna be the reason we lose a game if he keeps this up.

Army @ Rice; 12:00 pm, ET; FSN

This one I might flip on, it just depends on my feelings on how well Rice can deal with Army's ground and pound

Middle Tennessee @ LaTech; 3:30 pm, ET; ASN

Wind out of the sales of MTSU after this one. Both will get in the low 30's, but the question is.. Dixon. If he's in LaTech romps... if not, toss-up game?

North Texas @ Marshall; 3:30 pm, ET; FSN

Sorry UNT I said it earlier... but I can see you guys going 0-for in conferenc play.

Old Dominion @ FIU; 6:00 pm, ET; No scheduled TV

This is the one I think is the most likely "upset". ODU's looking better for the most part, with the new QB, but I don't think it's enough.

FAU @ UTEP; 7:00 pm, ET; ASN

Again, the only good news for UTEP is UNT is still on their schedule.

Western Kentucky @ LSU and SEC Refs; 7:00 pm, ET; ESPNU.

WKU makes it interesting until late in the 3rd/early in the 4th, when LSU turns on the gas, and the SEC refs asks the WKU coaching staff, "how much lube" do you want going with the f---ery we're about to give you?
