James Madison Hosting ESPN Game Day Oct 24
How many MAC programs have hosted ESPN Game Day?

This is for the "I don't want a FCS startup" MACtion faction.

What are the top five attended programs in the MAC this year?

Gameday came to BG when they hosted #12 NIU in 2003. BG was #23 at the time. 2003 was a great year for the MAC. 4 teams ranked in the top 25 at some point during the season, NIU peaking at 12, BG got up to the mid teens, Toledo was somewhere between 20 and 25, and of course, Big Ben and Miami finished at #12 or something. Amazing year.04-rock04-cheers

ESPN does an FCS game day every year recently. Means no more, no less.

Its a pretty weak week for p5 teams so why not throw a bone to the FCS where fans are engaged. Plus its proof ESPN cares about everyone equally...

I think some MAC towns could handle game day, but game day is on Saturday and our games that matter are not.

What he said

Because of this I would say the best FCS teams have an even better chance at hosting Gameday than the best G5 teams.

So lets not start comparing

If the 3 AAC schools keep up the pace, I could see them at one of their games.

It's pretty difficult for a MAC team to get Gameday nowadays since all of our big games are now weeknight games.

I thought they had one at BG a few years back...may have been during the Big Ben era at Miami.

RE: James Madison Hosting ESPN Game Day Oct 24
Every Sunday one of my friends calls me and we always look at next week' schedule and try to figure out where gameday will be. This week was almost impossible. The only top 25 matchup is Texas A & M at Ole Miss, and they both lost last week. We checked out all the possible G5 teams as it would have been a great day for a Temple-Memphis or a Toledo-BG or Marshall-Western Kentucky type of matchup but there were no good matchups. We fianlly just said that they would likely pick a lower level game so we kind of nailed it. The MAC is unlikely to get one of these games again because we have sold all our top games to ESPN for November weeknight national telecasts.

Congratulations to JMU!

Gameday was never in Huntington, but in 1999 (pretty sure it was 1999) Corso and Herbstreit were in Huntington for our game against Toledo on Oct 14th (a Thursday)...

I wouldnt mind adding a team like JMU, but i just dont think hosting gameday has any credibility toward comparing your school to ours.

More than anything, it's the biggest opportunity JMU fans will ever have to push their own administration for FBS membership.

Didn't gameday have the ND St @ Montana game the first week this year. I think Musberger lives there and I know he and Herbstreet did the game. Not certain it was an official gameday location.

Yes, BG had one in 2003. I thought BG and NIU were beginning to develop a nice little rivalry until we were thrown back to the east again.
