Southern Miss Ecstasy:
In the Fedora days, we could score 50 points, but still lose.

In the Monken days, we can have 500 yards of offense, and have no points to show for it.

We ran 7 more offensive plays than UTSA and had over 350 more offensive yards.

I really feel as if you're splitting hairs to find something to be mad about. Listen to Monken's post game press conference. Is it perfect? No. But we got the win. The stats were well on our favor (minus the turnovers and penalties). Our defense was rocking tonight and held UTSA for the most part. Be happy. We're going bowling this year.

RE: Southern Miss misery:
USM has a chance next week at Charlotte for several "firsts since 2011":

2 games over .500
Back to back wins vs FBS teams
2 road wins in a season

I'm sure there are plenty more but these are the ones I can think of right away. I realize it's not top 25 material but considering the last 3 years it's a start.

The team needs to develop polish and poise. It might take another off-season. Next season we'll have top-25 potential. This season is about building on a foundation.

there's a difference between being observant and being "mad". if anything, I thought it was a bit ironic.

That makes more sense. My inference of the title of the post warped the actual posts intention. It'll get righted as this year progresses into next year. But for now, Monken's doing enough to win.

the title of the thread was originally going to be a play on words; it was going to be "Southern Missery", but I didn't think anyone would get it.

Obviously I'm not the brightest crayon sometimes.

I'm just glad Southern Miss is finally finding a way to win the games that we're supposed to win again.

In Fedora's days, you could have 500 yards of offense and still lose the game by a HUGE margin.

In Monken's days, you could have 500 yards of total offense while the defense hold our opponent to 205 yards total offense, and we get the win...so, what's your point? Stop your bewailing and grumbling like a big baby. Support your damn team and ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE and stop acting like a simpleton!

And for those of you who are whining "yeah we won, but look who we are playing, look what our conference has come to, back in my day-yadadad blah blah...."

wait for it...

wait for it...

wait for it...

...we can't control who WE play!!! Win the damn games. And when we do win the damn games...stop looking at the negatives and QUIT COMPLAINING!

I recall him getting a job and we never heard from him/her again. Apollo is still around but doesn't post anymore. I guess for them they actually have a life now. :-)

It is kind of normal. Folks that post all the time seem to fade away. I have faded in and out over times. RTR, HP and Token have done the same over the years.

RE: Southern Miss misery:
Left a ton of points on the field Saturday.....the damn turnovers need to stop. Mullens stares down receivers and forces the ball way too often. Need to stick with the run game if it is clicking like it was Saturday.

Nice to win no doubt, but we have things that need cleaning up. We should've won that game by 40 points.

Will USM please rise up! If there was ever a program that mirrored us and always had our mutual respect it was USM. College football is better with a good USM.
