RE: HC Short List
I would prefer Babers slightly to Campbell, but either would be on my short list if this gets serious. It's not serious yet, but let's see how the rest of 2015 goes.

I'd take Babers over Campbell all day. He'll be at a P5 school next year though IMO.

I'm with you on that actually. I'm not as over the moon for Campbell as many though I think he has a chance to be a very good coach.
Curious as to your feelings on Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie. Both seem to have completely revamped the TCU offense. I think Doug Meacham is a guy who could wind up being a big time coach somewhere.

If Nick Saban and Urban Meyer aren't interested I say we go after Chip Kelly.

RE: HC Short List
Did you really think this team had a chance at going undefeated or having one loss... When that was being projected pre season,, I didn't see it... I knew the offense should put up points,,, but the defense, with a rookie coordinator, was going to give up a lot of points... All the seniors, from a suspect defense, were gone; so, that meant bunch of under classman were getting thrown out there...
We had (6) freshman playing defense in the last two games..
I think, next year may be a good year,, if we don't do something stupid and change coaches.. For the last three coaches, year three
is when we have had to start over, rebuilding a team and staff.. We finally have the pieces in place to build a team that can win at a high level...

RE: HC Short List
I'll throw a name out there I haven't seen brought up. How about Tom Bradley? He basically ran the Penn State team Paternos last 10 years, and had some of the best defenses in the country during that stretch. Actually played for the Bengals and lived in the city, and has recruiting connections in the Ohio, PA, KY, WV area. He is currently the DC at UCLA.
I would take a stab at him. He had absolutely nothing to do with the creep Sandusky, I don't think it is right that his name would be associated with that scandal. If it wasn't for that, he woukd have either been the next coach at PSU or another B10 school.

Actually it was his brother (Jim) who played for the Bengals. Tom Bradley went right into coaching.

He has been mentioned. i think it was BearcatJerry who brought him up. He was mentioned even before that after BK left as well, iirc. You're right. He doesn't seem to get much press as a candidate.
it looks like he just moved to UCLA as the DC. Perhaps he can be lured back to the Midwest, but LA ain't so bad. i travel there for work a lot and i'd move out there if i could.

No offense, but he's had 3 crappy years of mediocre results. Butch Jones teams had to go to crappy bowls too, the difference being that they won. While his teams never really knocked off anyone they weren't supposed to, even in his first year with a bare cupboard, he still stomped the freaking red hawks. The same team we've been barely squeaking by the past couple years. I realize the defense wasn't great, but that's not excuse for poor coaching, stupid penalties and a general lack of awareness the likes of which we've only seen under this regime. They're bad at their jobs. The kids who are succeeding, do so in spite of them, not because of them.

Why not. Look what Tom Herman is doing. OSU's defense has been as much keyboard their success as the their offense.

Comparing Herman and Fickell is highly insulting to Herman.

This is normal for the UC fan base, they're spoiled and get mad every time they lose regardless of the circumstances. If we do get a new coach he'll get the same treatment. The same thing with Mick when he was trying to rebuild UC b-ball.

K, and what will the offense be doing next year? graduating all 6 top targets plus how many on the O line? So next year we will hear that the O line or the receivers are a work in progress, and we just cant be expected to compete until we get these two groups up to speed. wash, rinse, refreaking peat with CTT.

If 10 wins, 9 wins and this year is your definition of " 3 crappy years of mediocre results", then I guess you only will accept undefeated - which this team has only done once in the past 100 years! You obviously don't remember the 1970s-2000.
I'm not happy losing, but not all the loses are due to poor coaching. The only change I would make is to replace Eddie Gran.

I wanted Bradley as our DC when Hughes left...
But yes, Tom Bradley would make a good HC somewhere.
