Hopefully they fall off planet earth again next year after Fuente gets a job somewhere else. Don't care for Ole Miss, but I really wanted Toledo to be the clear cut top G5 team this year.

Do we sense a little bitterness there, Chief?

Just a little

I don't get it. Arkansas State has a rivalry with Memphis dating back to the 50's. Our fans have hated them for years...

4 years ago, when they were the worst FBS team in the country...and we beat them 50-3, it wasn't considered bitter that I hates their guts. Now that they are actually good, I'm suddenly bitter?

Sure appears that way.

Okay, Now, If I wished for the entire University to fall into a gigantic sink hole, falling steadily to the center of the earth where they are swallowed whole by Satan's army of locusts...That would be bitter.

Hoping their football team stinks, especially when its a situation where Arkansas State could probably use a Memphis loss for a little perception help....is not bitterness.

That being said, if their university did fall into a gigantic sink hole...I wouldn't complain. Though I would ask that it happen when I'm not on campus for an event, That would stink.

That rivalry goes back much, much further than that. We started playing them in the teens, and played literally every year until the late 50s.

Keep hanging onto that win.

Next year, when Feuntes is gone, you'll have memories of a good season to carry you through the next 10-15 long years, as Memphis gets back to normal.

If Fuente is hired away, it simply breaks the long streak of fired coaches...Barry Odom becomes HC...Dickey stays on as OC/Assoc HC

Fuente will take Gallen Scott, Cornelsen, and Bill Blankenship with him.

Not a bad lineup. But as we have found, every coaching change brings its unique challenges.

So they beat you 91-34 combined the past two years and you're talking smack about them? Lol

I think he generally makes fun of Tech on principle. Same reason I always make fun of Memphis...it's just business.

Indeed. And the good thing about having Tech whip our asses the way they did is that regardless of the outcome of their games, I can find some sort of satisfaction in the final result. If they win, "see, Tech's a really good team that applied an ass-whipping on us", if they lose, "ha ha, Bulldawg Barks & Bytes meltdown and self-flagellation for never getting over the hump".

What's not to like?

NMSU has two nearby rivals (UTEP and UNM) and most of the fanbase feels strongly towards one or the other. A few hate both and a few (like me) don't mind either, but it's usually basketball we base our rivalries on. Football is historically terrible along the entire Rio Grande Valley. (Just don't talk to me about some of our former WAC conference mates though. Those guys were fun to hate.)

Shows how severely overrated the SEC is. Ole Miss gets blasted anytime they play out of conference

Yeah, losing Fuente and Lynch will be a tough blow to Memphis. They need to capitalize on their momentum quick. This is Deangelo II.

that said, the best Tommy West could do with him were 8-9 win seasons, and a New Orleans or GMAC bowl, with no conference titles.

with Fuente it seems 10-11 win seasons, and conference championships are possible...

when Fuente leaves, I'll wish him well and think him for turning around Memphis football.
