I've long thought that the growth of Oakland is a threat to EMU in terms of enrolling students as well as men's basketball.

This university is really growing.

Two of the largest freshman classes in EMU history are in the last 3 years. EMU isn't hurting for students.

Good article.

I thought EMU's frosh enrollment tailed off after tuition rose when 0-0-0 ended.

Guess I was wrong.

I think that's great news. But I noticed one thing that I think is extremely important--the article touting Oakland was in the Detroit News, the article touting Emu seemed to be internal. Value to Oakland: 90%. Value to EMU: 10%

I think that Oakland's rise has certainly hurt EMU basketball.

How has it "hurt" EMU? We're a larger (growing enrollment) university with continually rising academic admission standards.

We've beat them 3 of the last 4 times we've played them, with the one loss coming on a buzzer beater. I think we've done ok against Oakland.

I totally read that comment as just "hurting EMU," but yeah, I'll be surprised if we don't make that 4 of the last 5 this season.
