RE: Mets win!!!!
I'm a Cardinals fan, but I was stationed in Flushing, NY for 3 1/2 years as a recruiter. The Mets are HUGE supporters of the military. We used to do events at Citi Field. It's great to see them doing well this season!

Congrats to all Mets' fans. I'm still a little bitter about our NLDS loss but I will be pulling for the Mets to win it all.

It's a shame they have to lose to the Cubs.
On a side note, after 3 years of recruiting out of the New Orleans area I've never once received a phone call or been invited to a single event.

One of these teams left standing is going to end a long drought--

Cubs - 1908
Royals - 1985
Mets - 1986
Jays - 1993

Dodgers will wait at least another year - 1988

...and that's why it's funny that writers talk about MLB not having a salary cap and how it hurts competition.

The NBA has a cap and essentially the same 6 or so teams have been in the NBA finals the past 10 years. Only 9 franchises have won an NBA title since 1984.

MLB has had 18 different franchises win in that time, 19 if the Cubbies win it all.

I went to a Cardinals game in San Diego last month on Military Appreciation Day. First, the Padres wear camo jerseys every Sunday. Second, they really know how to pay tribute to our military. Third, that stadium is cool as can be. Very Cali. Practically a home game for the Cards. Coolest part of the trip for me was being on the Anti Submarine Warfare base one morning when colors were presented. Chiefs playing Ultimate Frisbee in front of me, SEALs behind me.

Cubs swept the Mets 7-0 this year. However it was early in season.

Looks like its "Back to Reality" and not "Back to the Future" for the Cubbies.

Basketball can be easily dominated by 1 or 2 guys...

So you had Jordan/Pippen
Kobe/Shaq and Kobe/Pau
Duncan/Parker/Ginobli
And of course Lebron.

Out of all the teams in the NL I and probably most others would have given the Mets the lowest chance to make it to the World Series. No one saw a sweep coming although I think the Cubs expended a lot of energy beating the Pirates and Cardinals.

Young team too reliant on the HR for runs. Was 0-31 before they got their first lead off hit in an inning. While they do need at least one more good starter. They also need someone at the top of the line up that hits for average. Can get on base and can get into scoring position. Had bases load and no outs and only got 1 run. In Cardinal series Bryant led off the inning with a triple and failed to score. Need one guy at top of line up who can hit for average and a guy behind him that has great bat control, will not strike out and can go to the right side,

Do not expect Baez to come north with the team after spring training. Still very raw, injuries and family issues held him back. Could use another season in the minors and will need Castro for 2nd base. Unless they go balls to the walls and hopes Baez develops in the bigs.
