looking at the list of voters i'd imagine either Ray Harper or Shaka Smart gave ODU the one vote.

Harper would be my guess, though if it was Shaka giving ODU, the longtime hated rival of the school he was coaching just months before, its one vote, that would be deliciously trolltastic.

Here is a link to the poll with the list of voters. I am not seeing Smart's name. I'm thinking either Harper or Richmond's Chris Mooney.

They must have updated the voter panel, because when I clicked the link earlier, Shaka was definitely in there and Mooney was not. With that in mind, it's almost certainly Mooney or Harper (nobody else with schedule or regional ties on the panel, except Todd Bozeman at Morgan State)

ODU fans: other than Freeman, who will be ODU's big contributors this year?

The major pieces from the back court all return: Freeman, Bacote, Baker and Mosley.

The bigger questions are in the front court where Denzell Taylor returns to anchor the defense but ODU will otherwise rely on newcomers. I think most believe Brandan Stith will be a major addition. The staff has been talking about Stith the same way they did Trey Freeman before last year.

Thanks - that is a very strong team with another year playing together.

Agreed. Hopefully the front-court can get figured out. We've got a lot of pieces we don't really know about yet (Stith, Pervier, Talley). If they, along with Taylor and Biberaj, can form a cohesive unit, then I'll be very optimistic with our chances over the season.

ODU and UAB will definitely the two front runners this year. You two teams are loaded. I think ODU will have the notch during the regular season due to your star senior leaders (Freeman and Bacote) on the team. UAB will be a force during the conference tournament again.
MT will be very competitive after their deep run in the conference tournament last year - I think they have a very good coach. They are definitely the third best team preseason for me.
Tech/WKU/UTEP are a bit unknown at this point.
Rice will be the dark horse this year.

Rice is going to finish top 5 this season. I don't have much doubt about that.

We have a very friendly home conference schedule this year. We'll see what we're made of on the road early in OOC play. Got to start getting in done on the road.

Sucks that this will be the first season I won't be able to go to UAB games in 4+ years, but still beyond excited for College Basketball to start up. I've truly become a college basketball junkie. Here's to C-USA making some noise this season.

Didn't want to start a new topic for this so I will put it here......

This is Western's Hilltopper Hysteria I would guess 3500 showed for it. Below is part one of two (I still have to upload part 2) and while most of us can't really tell by looking who's who on other schools teams...

You couldn't for Western if you knew every player last years face...Western will have 8 new scholarship players and 10 new overall counting the 2 walk on kids

I don't now if it's in this clip or the next one but some fans will problem go...I know that guy when my phone pans...to the crowd. He's a rock star QB sitting beside me.

Part 2

So what happened this year that required WKU to sign 8 scholarship players? Thats just as bad as our mass exodus a few years ago that we are just now recovering from.

Western had 4 Sr's and 3 fr to leave on their on or I guess in a could cases pushed to leave because playing time was not increasing. Western also has two players back with their degrees and with the grades to go on a academic scholarship

Schools having a 5 to 7 man class is going to be the norm from now on...transfer rate in college basketball is 40% and rising
