2. AAC - Gotta rep for our conference
3. ANY team that is playing the Gators (UF is my most hated team/fanbase)
4. Florida St - My favorite team prior to attending UCF
5. ANY conference team playing against USF

1. Tulane -- alum
2. South Alabama in baseball/MBB -- grew up mostly in Mobile. Fond memories of the Eddie Stanky/Cliff Ellis era.
3. Georgia State -- alum (graduate school). Have attended lots of GSU events since moving to Atlanta-area.
4. South Alabama in football -- extension of childhood loyalty, although they didn't have football in those days.
5. Georgia -- family ties.
6. Navy -- family ties plus appreciation/admiration of the Academy & its mission.
T-7. Air Force and Army -- same as #6 but family ties lessened.
9. AAC -- conference loyalty
10. BYU -- for their willingness to go it alone, and frequent success while doing so.

2. Carolina Panthers / Charlotte Hornets.

Don't see a reason to root for anybody else unless it will specifically help my teams' standing in their division, conference, etc. For alumni of 2 schools, I can understand that.

I grew up rooting for NCSU. Dropped them like a bad habit when I went to ECU. Kind of a different situation than Memphis / WVU I admit.

1. WMU
2. MAC teams vs OOC
3. Michigan State
4. B1G teams vs OOC (excluding MAC)
5. G5s vs P5s (excluding non-MAC over B1G in most instances)

In that order, and there's really no conflict. WMU played MSU, and of course I rooted for WMU (it's where I went). I spent lots and lots of time in East Lansing back in the day, but yeah, I'm not going to be one of those Walmart Wolverine or Big Lot Buckeye fans For MSU *over* where I went! That's insane!

The only way I'd root for MSU over WMU is in later-season games where:
- WMU sucked balls in a year and MSU was temporarily injured to the hilt, and needed that win to win their division in the B1G (bittersweet either way)
- Much like above, but motivator of wanting WMU to fire their current coach; MSU wouldn't need to be on the cusp of going to B1G Champ Game or being undefeated

So what makes one a Walmart Wolverine fan vs someone who's just a fan of Michigan?

EX: A friend of mine, a CMU fan, went to CMU and is a big UofM fan. When CMU plays UofM, he 100% roots for UofM. He never went to UofM. Never spent any of his days growing up in or around Ann Arbor. Sad, sad, sad.

Actually they have a very dedicated fan base, more so than UNC imho. A lot of my extended family went there. They don't seem to understand why I don't care anymore. Its mostly indifference as it's nearly impossible to be a fan of both in this case. I find it easier to identify with ECU as well.

True on the dedicated NC ST fanbase; live amonst quite a few in Martinsville, VA - big Tarheel and Wolfpack contigencies in MHC.

2. Notre Dame - my best friend growing up, his whole family went there. Then I went to a Catholic high school (McNicholas) that used ND's fight song

4. Any Ohio school - I figure more Cincinnati kids play for Ohio State or Bowling Green than anywhere else in the country

Spent my elementary years in Lexington so grew up being a big UK fan. Also had a sibling attend there and my Mother worked there.
Eventually moved to Texas and went to UT. Married a Bulldawg and so am a UGA fan by marriage.

I was hoping I would get to see who I would root for in the final 4. A couple of times it was almost UK-UT. I would probably root for UK.
Texas in football and other sports. UGA is 3rd, although if a football game really mattered (like a division title), I might root for UGA over UK.

I lived lots of places, so there are other schools I am favorably inclined to-Indiana, Miami U.(sibling is alum), Ohio St., FSU (when Winston wasn't playing for them-I used to like Florida until I married a Bulldawg and found out how obnoxious they can be). I like Rice. Everybody in the SWC liked Rice except for the Aggies. I have lots of Houston Cougar friends and relatives and actually audited a class there once, so I like to see them win when they aren't playing Texas, Kentucky, Georgia or Rice.

My parents went to Florida so I was raised to cheer for Florida but once I went to Kent State they became my clear number 2 behind Kent because I had that personal connection. I also cheer for most (note most) MAC schools when not playing Kent or each other (in which case I cheer for what is better for Kent) because they have many of the same situations as Kent and their victories and losses impact Kent potentially.

Todd, drugs man, drugs, only thing that makes sense.
