The sad state of CUSA...
Three distinct tiers (per CBSSports.com):

WKU 34
Marshall 46
LaTech 55

USM 79
MTSU 81
Rice 82
FIU 91

FAU 111
UTSA 112
ODU 114
UTEP 118
Charlotte 122
UNT 125

So far, this absolutely is the pits. We have gone from the top G5 conference to, hell, maybe even the 4th or 5th..

It is what it is. OOC Wins are what truly determines how our Conference does in these rankings. WE stunk it up and now we are paying for it.

MWC and SBC have faired far worse than we have thus far. AAC is having a good year, and we are tied with the MAC. Sure, it's a down year from last year, but the entire G5 minus the AACk is having a down year as a whole.

Our time will come again. We have a lot of young teams. Marshall and LT will probably be good every year. The rest of us will go in cycles. The only one that really shocks me is UNT.

Exactly. Take away the over-inflated, overhyped, ESPiN Love child that is
Boise and the MWC is the Sunbelt. The AAC is having a good year and they have made the most of it. It is what it is and I am gonna keep on enjoying CUSA football like its the Ess EEE Seee!!!

Good, bad, middle of the road....

really it's all the same we will play in the very same bowls that we did last year

Till we start beating those P5 schools that we should (IU) and start upsetting a few we should lose to...it wont change. Even then we are only talking about a "better chance" of playing in 1 bowl that makes us money.

Enjoy what your school is doing...not others

RE: The sad state of CUSA...
I said all this last summer about CUSA. My predictions are coming true that all the excitement about this conference will fade away. I've been watching this conference for 14 years. I was bashed for saying negative things but all the G5 (including AAC) don't matter. That is a reality that will set in. CUSA is a conference where most schools only care about their own university for the most part. I know it's bad but that is the truth. This is true I think in all the G5 conferences. I'm not aiming to bash people just saying.

yep, and it's why the "market" talk stuff is and always will be the wrong reason to form conferences.

eventually, the G5 leagues will rearrange themselves again into more sensible leagues built on history and rivalries, games that excite the people who matter most, the students and alums. not some mythical market driven TV number that doesn't exist.

Sorry, Duke Dawg, that ship has sailed. CFB has been changed to a media event. Proximity no longer matters.

And that ain't just G5. Media has killed rivalries in the big conferences as well.

MAC's definitely better overall than CUSA this year.

AAC
MAC
CUSA/MWC
Sunbelt

Massey composite has the MWC rated a lot higher than CUSA and very close to the MAC. I don't really see it outside of Boise. Gotta be going too much off of last year's numbers.

MWC has OOC wins over: #31 Washington, #85 Virginia, #91 Colorado, #103 Buffalo, #109 UTSA, #127 New Mexico St.

CUSA has OOC wins over: #77 Vanderbilt, #102 ULL, #116 Texas St., #119 Miami OH, #122 UCF, #122 EMU, , #125 Georgia St. , #127 New Mexico St.

I wish CUSA had gotten those Indiana wins and the KSU win. Too close.

RE: The sad state of CUSA...
This is just more about the growing pains of adding so many start up programs than anything else. UNT and UTEP obviously weren't expected to be this bad, but seeing struggles out of programs like Charlotte, ODU, and UTSA isn't shocking. Those 3 might have the highest upside of any members of C-USA, but you can't go from no program to consistently competitive at the FBS level overnight.

There is absolutely no reason to believe that. In fact, the trend toward market has continued to excelerate and looks something like this...

When was C-USA ever the top G5 conference? you are not on the same planet as the MWC and not even in the same universe as the AAC.

Is that why CUSA was rated higher than the AAC just last season? I'll give them credit and admit that the AAC is the best G5 this year, why can't you admit that CUSA was better last season?
