5) FIU

I'd say LaTech and Marshall are pretty much twins.

While they've spanked Rice and MTSU, I have a feeling that Marshall (plus the West winner, should WKU win the East) will provide stiff competition.

Agree. It is ridiculously difficult to go undefeated (See: 2014 Marshall) And I think the Herd might have something to say about it...

If WKU and LaTech meet again in the CCG, look out, because it's even harder to beat a team twice in a season. I'm not saying they won't win CUSA, but I'm not so sure it's going to be an all-out cakewalk either.

A lot of people don't like him. Not sure why. We always ***** about something. The guy who replaced him at the Hattiesburg American is better though.

To be honest, I'm feeling good about our game with WKU at the end of the season. Without future injuries, I think the Herd can man up with them. Our defense stacks should stack up well against their offense and neither our offense or their defense are very good. Should be an interesting game.

Yeah, it's too bad that last year the defense thought the game started an hour later than it did.

I'd place Tech in front of us simply because our offense is so anemic. We've won with excellent defense and special teams play.

We are not Top 5 in the conference until we beat someone who isn't horrible. We have three wins against:

Austin Peay (winless FCS team getting smashed by FCS opponents every week)
Texas State (1-win team getting creamed every week)
North Texas (winless, lost by 59 to an FCS opponent, possibly the worst FBS team in the country)

Our performances in losses hold more weight than those wins.

Western has held every team we played below their avg on ppg

PA/G: 23.3 (56th of 128) vs run 4.3 vs pass 12.2 sos 73


PA/G: 17.5 (23rd of 128) vs run 4.0 vs pass 8.3 sos 117

So calling Western's defense not very good and Marshall's defense as stacking up great vs a top 5 offense might not be accurate. One other thing to take into the mix...Western playing the harder schedule but also 3 bqs better than anyone Marshall has faced so far. Oh, Western did not play a FCS school

people get caught up in wkuyg's delivery and hate him for it. nobody EVER refutes his numbers. they just mumble away quietly about how mean he is.

and you won't ever find me obsessing on middle and in every thread about them. my middle links were in direct response to your western links. after witnessing the absolute abuse put on middle saturday ima change the siggy. not even gonna mention the running back that had a nice game against us.

He's a sports writer for the newspaper on the coast an hour south of Hattiesburg. He always seems to be harsh and extra critical on Southern Miss no matter what and has a bit of an SEC bias. I enjoy Jason Munz of the Hattiesburg American a lot more. He's a realist, but he is around the team a lot more than Magee is.

one difference I will beat a person over the head with it till they get it or really wish they had went away sooner. I'm as competitive as anyone on this or any board...when you start playing sport (to win) at the age of 5 and still do at 55 it makes you competitive.

So if a person is going to try and debate me in something they really do need to bring something to the board...if it's worth my time, it's worth me knowing what I'm talking about. If not why start?

The way I look at it ...they will like me just fine if Western was losing or I was one of those middle of the road type people that wants everyone to love them. I'm just the opposite...

I have enough friends (real ones...not WWW) and family and I will wait till I get a lot older to have a few no one but I can see

The way I grew up if you do something...do it the best you can. So yes I will google but really I probably know as much if not more about most of these schools as their fans.( I have well over 400,000 basketball/football files on my PC and a great memory) so google isn't my first stop.

So with your vast knowledge, you do realize that Doughty is very mediocre under pressure and your receivers catch the dropsies and if that happens on the right day, you will lose in cusa. Also, wku will fall off the face of the earth once doughty leaves.

Well in that case I guess Doughty isn't "under pressure" very often. But that brings up another point...Western returns just about all of our 2 deep offensive line. So I guess Doughty's replacement wont be under much pressure either.


Not any more so than Marshall is this year....

Well on second thought Western does usually play a tougher schedule while Marshall tries to schedule the worse in the MAC and FCS
