That’s how chip-based credit cards work in the rest of the world.

But it’s not how the chip cards we’re getting here work. I’ve experienced the difference firsthand, from being the guy slowing down the line with my signature card to arguing with a cashier who didn’t think my signature on a receipt matched the one on the back of my card. https://nrf.com/news/the-land-of-chip-an...-and-slow?

Not sure when the last time I've had someone actually check the signature on the back of my card. I'm pretty sure I could sign Donald Duck on the little machine and the transaction would go through.

I've had my current card for close to two years now and I know it hasn't been checked because it's not signed.

I read somewhere that when Netflix tried to charge account holders who had switched to embedded cards in the last month, the transactions were rejected. If a transaction is refused, Netflix automatically drops their service. They supposedly lost several million accounts.

There's actually a really funny story about a guy that attempted to see how far he could go and the signature still be accepted.

I think that they are suppose to be safer at gas stations where they are most likely to be compromised.

Every gas station I use still employs the swipe method so that added security is null.

I remember when I said there was no way I was going deposit money into a machine. That that was the craziest thing I had ever heard of, and I would always go into the bank and do my transactions with a real person. My how times have changed.
