Herman won't go to USC. USC has had two consecutive hires that have turned into absolute dumpster fires. They're going to need to choose a head coach with a longer track record of success. Plus, I hope Herman sticks around for a while. The AAC needs to retain its talented young coaches.

Good point but here is another article speculating Herman as a candidate:

Maryland can and will be a great job. $150 million facility coming online, deep and sustained support from Under Armour. 5 miles form DC and 30 from Baltimore which is a great recruiting area. The right coach can make this a destination job.

I've got my money on Fitzgerald, Del Rio, Dykes for that job. In that order.

I don't know enough about what's going on elsewhere, but IMO Ken Niumatalolo isn't leaving Navy for just any P5 job & definitely not Maryland.

I'm not saying he's never leaving, but it would take a seriously good opportunity for him to leave Navy. He has a great job with plenty of money (about $1.6m/year) & perks. I think he's proud of what he's built at Navy & very few assistants leave because they love him. I think he enjoys working with our players and is humbled by being a part of the overall mission of USNA & what his players are going to be doing with their lives. I think he also knows that many of the off-campus type things that are a huge deal at Navy, wouldn't even get mentioned at most schools so he doesn't have huge player problems. Plus, the job is his until he no longer wants it.

All of that combined is worth more than a few hundred thousand per year.

But I also don't think that any of those big name programs will come calling for a triple option coach (or so he's considered, he isn't, but that's a different topic) so I really don't think he's leaving anytime soon.

So we have lots of loyalty & KN isn't leaving for just any P5 opportunity.

Wait, UCF: isn't this backwards?

Although it'd be great if he left as coach, but he'd do significantly much more damage as an AD. I think we can all agree he's not the type of people person an AD needs to be. In any case, he'll be gone at seasons end.

He'd probably hire some schmuck who faked his credentials.

Since we are talking coaches I wonder if Jim Leavitt will ever get a head coaching gig again. He built the USF program and had as much success as anyone there.
