Exclamation Things I noticed about this college season
The little guy can play with the power 5 conferences toe to toe, at least perhaps through the first half, if not the middle of the 3rd period, before the little guys run out of gas (EMU lost to LSU) and the lack of overall talent. Earlier in the season we saw Central, Western, NIU hold their own against power 5 teams, either at home or on the road. We also saw where in the case of UT and BG, we won on the road against the so-called big time football, lower end of the power 5 conferences.

If you have a good offensive line, doesn't have to be great, can protect the QB, by staying in the pocket passing the ball, with occasional good running attack, and utilizing the spread offense, one has a chance of upsetting any power 5 conferences. Even without a great defense, just out scored your opponent.

Kudos go out N. Dakota State who have had their share of success against power 5 leagues. Although they maybe too far west, would love to see the Bison inside the MAC. Obviously, we all know about Boise State's success. I think that team could easily, as far as football is concern, fit in with a lot of success inside the Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12 conferences.

The same case can be said about UT, NIU, or BGSU which all 3 could compete in football inside the Big 10.

Agree. It's all about depth. That's why this team is special. We are deep at alot of positions we've never been this deep at.

I think we have a high level Dline. Better than 90% of the game. We saw this against Arkansas. We've been getting to QB's regularly and our speed on the edges has helped us contain running games. This is an A level defense in our back yard. BG has scored on everybody this season. Hopefully we are their lowest scoring game of the year.

Knet had more open receivers than I recall in any other game. Their QB just wasn't finding them. Hope that's an aberation because BG's QB will find them, if he's got time.

Ya, the D has stepped up when "push comes to shove". Ranging from "Downright Stifling" to "Bend but don't break". There was a sequence in the 2nd Half where Kent took a shot at the end zone. The DB looked out of position but since the pass was poor, he broke it up. The very next play Kent went to the End Zone again, and UT picked it off. I'd like to think the D is bating teams into plays like that.
