Hopefully we get some warm, dry fall weather (like today) and the parade is set for right after lunch so people can make a day of it Uptown. With all that, maybe we'll even get fans in the stands prior to kickoff...well we can dream of that at least.

Some friends from MS (him UC alum, wife OK booster) came to the PBS UC OK game. Her first comments 20 minutes before the game were "Where the hell are the fans?"

I told her UC fans are always seated fashionably late. She was flabbergasted.

The free student tickets sold out very quickly this morning. Student overflow tickets on sale for $15. Hopefully we can get a strong crowd for Homecoming.

That's so cool that we get to see the student section completely full for only the second quarter.

I tend to enter the stadium about half and hour before game time and I have enjoyed watching the student section fill up before kickoff. If only the season tickets areas did likewise.

Yea I didn't get hide post. I get to my seat pretty much right before kickoff and the student section has been jammed every game this year at that time

Nope.

At the Miami game kickoff, Section 111 was about 40% full and 112 about 80% full. A lot of empty seats there after halftime as well. A surprising number left by the fourth quarter. It didn't totally fill up until well into the first quarter. 111 is almost never jam-packed.

Watch the kickoff:

http://www.gobearcats.com/sports/m-footb...15aaa.html

It was still a good showing by the students - much better than the rest of the crowd - but a decent portion of them tend to meander in...and out.

Just watched it on that clip... looks pretty packed throughout to me (40% doesn't seem anywhere close to right). 111 is almost never "jammed packed" because students overcrowd in 113/114/115.

I think the criticism of the students is often so overblown by some. The students have been great for UC in recent years.

Nope. You need a bigger screen. But whatever.

I bet at least a quarter of the students were already gone when the game was still on the line in the fourth quarter.

X2 I think the students have done a great job and are amped for the games.

I'd say at least 90% of the students were on the field after the game.

You're not implying that 90% were there at the end, are you?

There's a reason they got Tuberville to offer a "public service announcement" about sticking around until the end.

X2 I think the students have done a great job and are amped for the games.

The Miami game was one of the louder games I've been to, and the student section is a big reason for that. Relative to the nonstudent crowd, the students are very boisterous. Fortunately, Nippert holds the noise it has very well.

With that said, the most amped up I've ever seen the students was during the rain delay before the Alabama A&M game. THAT was electric.

But to say the section was "jammed" at kickoff or 90% were there at the end of the game is truly imaginary. It simply wasn't the case. Many of the students - and the rest of the crowd for that matter - left while the game was still in question. It was enough that I made mental notes of it from my seat in 119 and intentionally surveyed it throughout the game. At the beginning of the second half, I openly wondered if most of the missing were still on the plaza drinking beer. Some of them returned, but many did not.

UC has a lot of "casual" fans, but I think this is the trend for college football in general.

I think we should stop pissing and moaning about the crowd. Trajectory is upward. The record aint great this year and we are still getting good crowds. 10 yrs ago vs. now light years change.
