RE: Withers a candidate for Maryland?
Withers is a solid candidate for many jobs. Its just a matter of when he decides hes ready to move on.

Withers a candidate for Maryland?
He definitely is getting exposure at this point. Only thing we could give him is a move up to FBS and a moderate salary comparatively to Big 10 etc.

I hope we can keep him

RE: Withers a candidate for Maryland?
I don't think he would be a serious candidate for the Maryland or any P5 HC vacancy. It could be viewed in athletic circles as a potential Mike London (Richmond to UVA/FCS to P5) type disaster. No school wants a repeat of that mess. I also think that EW needs another year to establish himself. After that, all bets are off especially if JMU hasn't definitively signaled they are moving to FBS.

Tom Herman > EW in terms of P5 opportunities over the next few years IMO.

EW won't get a P5 job straight from JMU, but the natural trickle down effect will get him in line for CUSA/MAC/AAC jobs.

I don't think Everett has done enough yet and any person scouting for coaching talent should want to see what Withers does without landing a gift transfer in the form of Vad Lee. Those opportunities are not common. It would say more if he recruited a top quality QB himself out of high school.

Gotta admit it would be an inspired choice from Anderson/Plank and I for one am not as quick to discount the possibility. With the OSU/Meyer connection and Maryland now in the B1G, that could be an easier sell to the Terps fanbase than we realize, though obviously I really hope it doesn't happen.

I don't see Withers being a candidate for the job. I personally see the AAC as the next springboard for him as CUSA/MAC/Sun Belt don't necessarily pay much more than we do.

RE: Withers a candidate for Maryland?
With all of the potential changes in the mid Atlantic upcoming there will be a lot of opportunities and trickle down effect on backend.

for starters MD, UVA and VT(potentially) will be looking - not saying Withers is the hire at any of these but if BGSU, Toledo, Memphis etc loses a coach I would think he'd be on their radar

RE: Withers a candidate for Maryland?
Actually 2 NFL teams are in the running.

I think Charles Haley is talking to Jerry Jones about bringing EW and VAD LEE to the Cowboys next year in a package deal.

Or was that Gary Clark kibitzing with Snyder about it's time to GO FAST with new blood. Again a package deal for EW VL.

The over/under is holding at 81

Keep monitoring!

Are the same idiots in charge of MD that fired Friedgen in Dec 2010? MD went 9-4 in 2010 when Fridge was named ACC coach of the year. After 10 seasons at MD 2001-2010 he was 75-50, 5-1 in bowl games, including a BCS Orange Bowl appearance, ran a relatively clean program. MD then fires the Fridge to hire Edsall, a coach who had record at Univ of CT of 74-70, and ended up going 22-33 at MD. Idiots.

Shows that for MD their 50 million uni combos didn't help at all...

And the kicker was James Franklin at Penn State was the coach in waiting when Ralph was going to retire. Maryland firing the frige was the stupidest fire ever by a mid level college football program.

I think they're building a $160 mil athletics facility. That's how hard it is in the Big 10. We ***** about $62 million and it's a drop in the bucket.

Yelp, getting rid of the Fridge was definitely a head scratcher.

RE: Withers a candidate for Maryland?
Withers interviewed for the central Michigan job last year. This year will only add to his resume. If there is no big time qb transfer in his future it would definitely make sense to cut bait.

RE: Withers a candidate for Maryland?
News to me that Withers was interviewing last year. You sure about that? Not questioning you negatively I just thought we would have heard about that by now. Unfortunately in our position that's just the way it works. We pretty much went through it every year in the early to mid 2000s with MM. Guys like Talley and Laycock who are at a place for 30 years and are successful just don't exist at this level anymore.
