2014 players that have left
With Peter Deppe being the latest to announce he's transferring, I decided to go through last years and this years roster to note which players from the 2014 class have already left.
I counted 10 out of the initial 31 who have left:
DE Jareem Flemming (Eastern Illinois)
DE David O'Gorman
LB Darian Henderson
LB Khalil Rogers
DB Deion Hallmon (Iowa Western)
S Devin Ingram
QB Landon Root (Kansas State)
WR David Senior (Alabama State)
P Peter Deppe
K Andrew Stark
I also counted 3 Sophomores that have also left:
DL Cal Breedlove (Western Illinois)
DL Brian Canoy
OL Nick Calhoun
NOTE: I listed in parenthesis where some of the former recruits have decided to transfer.

Not very surprising when you have a huge class.

Many of those kids were walk-ons or preferred walk-ons. Not the same as scholarship players leaving. Also Ambrose wasn't offered a scholarship until late summer, the staff must of felt that Deppe wasn't the guy. It happens.

Deppe was also a Freshman and Ambrose is only has one year after this so he must not be patient.
Most of these guys went down a level so no biggie. Guys that were higher stars hurt but look at the roster and that recruiting class has kids that can play.

I often take shots at Coach Carey and his staff, but this isn't a reflection on them. All schools lose kids each season. These are teenagers away from home for the first time. Choosing your college is often the first major decision any of these kids have had to make, and there will be second guessing. Kids will get homesick, be surprised at the lack of playing time, not mesh well with coaches or teammates, have friends at different schools, etc.
