Is it me or is there a conspiracy against Taylor Reynolds? I've never seen a guy play coverage perfectly so many times and get a flag thrown on him.

Night and day fellas. Thank you coaches

The JMU quarterback staring at the sideline for a majority of the time clock made me crazy....then the kickoffs to the 30 yard line, followed with bad grammar...

Defeating VT bought patience but fans can't live with the staring at the sidelines which baffled us all.

It was a trend to control the clock and expose the true alignment of the defense. Football coaches are a bunch of copycats , hence our offense lol.

They only gave up 295 yards total, they forced 2 turnovers (1 interception as last play of the game), and they held a preseason CAA POTY candidate to 44 yards on 16 carries. They were presented with several short fields where they gave up 2 or 3 of the Towson touchdowns. Everyone's freaking out about the defense, but we really shouldn't be. Withers and co. made some halftime adjustments and they played a great 2nd half. I'm not saying there isn't room to improve (their definitely is), but the defense is a better unit than people are giving it credit for.

Fantastic point. Easy to look at the final score and assume they played poorly.

I have to disagree. They are digressing as a unit. Every game they're getting worse. There's no pressure on the QB which is where it all starts and ends. We have to figure out a way to get a defensive lineman to beat an offensive lineman. That's not happening at all right now. Some of the stunts and rolls have worked but that is not something you want to live on. Today we did that out of desperation and gave up 30 points. It's a huge issue.

Good grief.

The competition is CLEARLY improving.

The Tiggers QB Frazier and RB Victor are no joke. Nor is their O-line or D-line, D-line perhaps more impressively.

Is there room for improvement? Well, of course. What team, ever, in the history of mankind, couldn't improve on some aspect? And I'm sure they're working on it by 8 A.M. Sunday.

"Digressing" cause they dismantled morehead and some other scrubs, now faced what actually may be a pretty good team by seasons end and only snot-bubbled them by three touchdowns.

C'mon, man.

Was it the under? Had to be the under. Cause they doubled the spread.

But they really weren't all that bad today. Special teams was awful. 13 points are direct results of 60+ yard kickoff returns. You really can't put all the blame on the defense when Towson starts their drive at the JMU 25 yard line. The unit isn't great right now but they're getting the job done. They were a bit shaky in the first half but totally shut the door in the 2nd half. Both of Towson's 2nd half scoring drives were less than 30 yards (thanks special teams). When Withers and co. made adjustments, the defense responded.
They are just too fast they need to slow down a bit and quit running past their assignments they just run past the ball carrier and cant make the stop and breakdown to make the tackle. Jut cover your man and stop getting blocked out. They were picking on the freshman safety also, they know better than to go against Taylor , but he gave up a few interference calls that cost us. Just need to get better This coming week will be a tune up for the rest of the season. Go play Elon and have the right stuff in place. All the teams have good films on us now so they know the weak spots in the armor.

I may be wrong because I was watching on stretch internet and that's basically like watching powerpoint...but didn't Ankrah miss the game too?

No I distinctly remember ankrah with at least one big stop and they then commented on how he was from Africa and didn't play any football in his life until high school.

RE: Towson game thread
Skimming through these in-game threads a day later can be pretty funny sometimes. If one had no other way of keeping track, might have thought Victor had like 250 yards rushing and was ripping through our line untouched.

Our WRs really made Vad look good yesterday. Not that Vad played poorly, but they came down with four or five really tough catches that could have very easily been dropped. Vad seems to putting up some balls that float a bit giving the defense time to make a play or pop the WRs. In those situations if he could put a little more heat on the ball, it would give the receiver time to get down or run away from the big hit.

Defense played better the 2nd half overall, but I feel like they were exposed a bit in the secondary. Frazier isn't anything special but a really good QB could potentially have a field day against us.

RE: Towson game thread
I didn't feel that way at all...I thought he had a really sharp passing game. The fact that Towson could cut off his ability to scramble and make plays with his feet, and he was still able to beat them with his throwing game really showed how good of a QB he is.
