In the first half of this season, we have allowed 10 points to the opponent. On offense, we have scored 14 points, and moved the ball well two other times. I don't think those statistics are particularly awful, but not particularly wonderful either. Sounds kind of like how are season has been so far, unremarkable.
To expand the sample size a bit, let's go back to last season:
Fresno:
1st defensive series: 3 and out
1st offensive series: 3 and out
LA Tech:
1st offensive series: Touchdown
1st defensive series: Touchdown
UTEP:
1st offensive series: Touchdown
1st defensive series: 1 first down, then stalled
Marshall:
1st defensive: 3 and out
1st offensive: 1 first down, then stalled
UTSA:
1st defensive: 3 and out
1st offensive: Had first and goal, before two personal fouls forced us to kick a 48-yard field goal, which we missed.
I don't feel like going back further, but the evidence shows we don't come out of the half any worse than our opponents. In fact, I think we might come out a little bit better.
Obviously, it could still be improved!
